I woke up this morning to the news that:
Senior figures in the Turnbull Government have told the ABC they believe the United States is prepared to bomb Iran's nuclear capability, perhaps as early as next month, and that Australia is poised to help identify possible targets.
It comes amid intense sabre-rattling by US President Donald Trump and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.
The ABC has been told secretive Australian defence facilities would likely play a role in identifying targets in Iran, as would British intelligence agencies.
But a senior security source emphasised there was a big difference between providing accurate intelligence and analysis on Iran's facilities and being part of a "kinetic" mission. www.abc.net.au/news/2018-07-27/donald-trump-may-be-prepared-to-strike-iran-sources-say/10037728
The Prime Minister is pouring cold water on this report but remember this should the US launch shock and awe on Iranian targets.
I am frankly gobsmacked at the very idea that US could unilaterally withdraw from an agreement with Iran only to attack them shortly after. I regard this as naked and unconscionable aggression, not to mention mindless stupidity. Iraq Mark II turned out so well ???
If this does come to fruition peace will not come to the Middle East for decades, if ever.
