I don't find it unbelievable. With everything else going on, it's another diversion ...the Republicans worked behind the scenes on their new election year tax plan which they just rolled out today. Ryan isn't going to say anything to upset President Loco right now. He's looking for praise.

Well, maybe Ryan has some inside knowledge of the mentality of fellow imbeciles, so that might be all it is.

I think Paul Ryan is trying to position himself to run for POTUS in 2020. His quandary? How close must he stay to Trump now and still be able to disclaim him when he's campaigning in 2020.

I think Ryan is trying to sneak out as quietly as possible as his name is on the dark money list along with others.

He never had mine either. Never will. He makes me gag. He's icky. I still remember that feeble attempt he and Romney pulled pretending they were washing pots and pans at a food pantry. The insincerity poured out of their, well, their pores.

Our entire culture is phoney. Christians who hate anyone just a shade darker than them. Democrats in ivory towers who claim intimacy with "the people". Republicans who don't know the meaning of the word. Independents (like Rand Paul) scavenging on the fringe of the political arena...sucking up to whomever might help him. Contrast all that with hard nose Putin just waiting for the opportune moment to shaft us...we are screwed. Ryan's simply stupid.

I didn't mean to imply that I'm without bias and hypocrisy. We grow up in a contradiction and it takes a toll on personal development. It's mighty hard to be a genuine Christian. If you teach your kid to "turn the other cheek", he will be victimized by a society based on greed and aggression. I'm a Democrat but there's no way I'd live in any major city to commune with "the people". Just wanted to set the record straight.

Pretty sure the concept of "turning the other cheek" refers to restraining the impulse for revenge, and not allowing ones self to be a punching bag. It's all interpretation. I tend to go with literal perspective. By turning the other cheek, you are offering it to be wacked. Even foregoing revenge in such a litigous culture could destroy you economically. At any rate, given human instincts...Christianity is not viable as a practical lifestyle. I think the authors intended for us to strive toward the ideal knowing full well it was impossible. If people would simply try...the world will be OK.
