Not only does the US have a mediocre president (and that is putting it mildly), they also have a mediocre FLOTUS. I cannot imaging Melania ever speaking in her own right with any such eloquence.
What Michelle has pointed to is very important. Women are much too judgemental of women leaders.
Hillary Clinton would not have been a mediocre POTUS. She withstood intensive interrogation a number of times in her career but instead of seeing strength and integrity, many people believed the propaganda and chose a man with a history of moral turpitude, with no commitment to truth and a very unsavory history of unscrupulous business dealings.
Go figure.

I don't think he is a president at all. He is at best the Pretender in the White House.

Not playing language police but wasn't this supposed to be 'can' rather than 'can't'? Why did so many women vote for an incompetent man rather than a competent woman? For centuries, women have been conditioned to believe that certain jobs can only be accomplished by someone with a penis. It's hard to unlearn old habits deeply ingrained. Less than 100 years ago, American women could not vote. Less than 200 years ago, they could not own property in their own name.

I think she is saying that things have to change, starting with the preparedness of many women to vote for very ordinary male candidates, even when there is a better female on offer. We hold the woman to higher standard than we do the male, and sometimes we end up with a dud when we could have had a jewel.

Understatement can be a form of irony. I like the use of understatements, and see a lot of irony in life as material for discussion.
