At the entrance to Tham Luang there is a warning sign about the risks of going inside during monsoon season which runs from June to October. Now that's a deal-breaker, no excuse for any of this mess to have happened. Warning signs aren't enough IMO. That cave system should have been closed during Monsoon season.

IMO that coach is an idiot!! You might go into the cave entrance and look, but not a Sunday stroll through the cave. That coach is from that country and should know about the monsoons.Wonder who is paying for all of this?

I almost said something about it being a third world shithole, but then I chickened out because it wouldn't have been "politically correct."

Looks like I have to rescind all my previous comments about the coach. I had assumed he had led the expedition. Now it appears that it's a case of a bunch of teen aged boys doing something stupid. Which seems to be a common trait among teen aged boys everywhere.
I ignored a warning sign or two myself when I was that age. It's a time of life when you tend to think you are immortal.

Well that make a huge difference, the coach is not a villain he is instead a hero.

A hero who went in by himself, late, and got stuck himself. Something does not make sense to me. If it was getting late, why didn't those boys come out themselves? When the coach went in , the rains came?

Yet I cannot help thinking that if they had given up the search after 5 days, or had found them all already dead, Thai navy seal Gunan would still be alive. My heart goes out to his family but I still recognise the way the coach looked after the boys once they were in trouble. IMO there are many heroes and no villains in those caves. One of the divers is an Australian doctor who is also a spelunker and cave diver. His renown is such that he was asked to go to Thailand to play a leading part in the rescue. If he were to condemn the soccer coach I would pay more attention but at this time I don't have the heart to do it myself. www.abc.net.au/news/2018-07-09/thai-cave-rescue-adelaide-doctor-highly-skilled-colleague-says/9957074

The attempt to bring the final five from the cave is underway now.
