I understand the point of view rosa427 makes. I appreciate and she's right that we're potentially on a slippery slope here. These are indeed troubled times in our country, perhaps the most fractious since the late 60s when large parts of the country were divided by race and the war in Vietnam. Unfortunately, Trump has exacerbated this situation with his rhetoric and the near constant attack on the left and Democrats. He's encouraging the divide, an us versus them culture. If that's what he wants, then Sarah Sanders is the proxy for that sentiment. She is the mouthpiece for this administration on a daily basis, and thus a polarizing figure in much of this country. If she wants a good meal where she's not harassed, perhaps she should flee back from whence she came, though I'm not sure she could find the rock she obviously crawled out from under. But I digress. rosa427 is right to be concerned. I am concerned too, especially since there is no chance in hell that Trump will ever be a unifier of all the citizens here in this country. He thrives on chaos and vitriol; he lives to hate and harass. He and his administration are about to reap what they've sewn.

I must say, I have mixed feelings about this. If John McCain or Obama were to be refused service based on their political views how would we feel. I do realize Sander's party is abominable, but, still, I'm just not sure if I'm comfortable with this idea. Is it much different than people using their religious views to deny others rights to services, when they find certain acts to be an abomination. I just have to think on this one some more, I'm not convinced this is such a good idea. To me the difference is that Mrs.Sanders comes before the American people and tells lies. She is the voice of our government, a source of official information. The fact that she lies is not an opinion or conjecture. I would say that anyone who conducts themselves in such a fashion doe not deserve the respect an honest person does. The proprietor of the Red Hen obviously feels disrespected and insulted by this woman's CHOSEN avocation, and decided not to honor a liar. The problem as I see it is we are perpetuating those behaviors that we ourselves say we detest. I don't see letting a person, not matter their profession as respecting the individual, but respecting human rights of all people regardless. It is one thing to vote them out of office or to not in some way patronize their business if we don't like what their selling. I've no problem with karma, or in some instances an eye for an eye, but, this isn't something to get behind from my standpoint. I'm just not getting how this benefits the country other than satisfying individual needs for vengeance. As I said before where does it stop. www.theblaze.com/news/2018/06/22/burger-king-reportedly-refuses-to-serve-cops-as-story-goes-viral-store-demands-apology-from-copsAccording to an article in the Bayou Journal and Blue Lives Matter, employees at a Burger King in West Feliciana Parish reportedly refused service to two cops who had visited the location in May. Two Assumption Parish deputies had just finished SWAT training in Zachary, Louisiana, and had stopped at a nearby Burger King in St. Francisville. Lonny Cavalier, the public information director for the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, told Blue Lives Matter that the two officers pulled into the drive-thru lane and attempted to place their order. The officers were riding in a patrol vehicle. Cavalier told Blue Lives Matter, “[The officers] sat [at the drive-thru kiosk] for an extended period of time before someone finally let them order.” Cavalier said that when one of the officers requested a chicken sandwich, an unidentified female inside cut him off and sarcastically said, “We’re out of chicken.” The officer proceeded in an attempt to order a Whopper, and this time he was reportedly cut off by an unidentified male, who said, “We’re out of burgers, too.” Apparently realizing that something was up, the officers asked those on the drive-thru intercom if the items were actually out of stock, or if they just did not serve police officers at this particular location. “The only response was laughter,” Cavalier told Blue Lives Matter. The officers reportedly moved onto the payment window after being told that they were out of both chicken sandwiches and burgers. According to the outlet, the two officers parked the vehicle, and one of them exited the car to stick his head inside the take-out window to speak with someone. “[The officer] could hear [employees] inside laughing, but no one would come to the window,” Cavalier said. The officers eventually left the restaurant — empty-handed — and reported the alleged incident to their supervisor. Cavalier told the outlet that the two officers were “embarrassed and humiliated.” “This is new for us,” he added. “We’ve not had that kind of relationship with any vendors, ever.” What did the department decide to do about the alleged incident? Cavalier told Blue Lives Matter that he contacted the restaurant’s corporate office multiple times, but got no resolution. So he took his concerns to the editor of the Bayou Journal in a letter. “What is troubling is that these same Burger King employees, in the event a robbery was occurring at the time, would have expected these two deputies to take a bullet for them, and those deputies would have,” Cavalier wrote in the letter. “Now we’ll wait and see how Burger King and Corporate Office responds,” Cavalier’s letter added. Cavalier’s letter originated from the Bayou Journal and was highlighted by Facebook user Matt Armstrong on June 15. Armstrong shared a photo of the article and captioned it, “Our police have one of the most dangerous vocations and as this letter to the editor exemplifies, ‘a mostly thankless job’ in today’s environment!!!” “We have great police protection and a safe community thanks to our police and sheriffs departments!!” he added.

Has there ever been another administration whose employees have been confronted on the street? I read where DHS has put out a security memo to all 200,00 of its employees instructing them on how to remain safe in the face of this administrations abuses. Things such as not wearing your badge out of the office, keeping knowledge of your employer on the down low, maintaining a high level of vigilance at all times. I love that these troglodytes cannot hide and their pitiful mantra of, "I was only following policy" is called out and shamed for the spineless cowards that they are. Conversly I read where trump has a 90% approval rating from republicans. Where the Hell are we living?
The "I was only following orders" defense was tried at the Nuremberg trials -- it didn't work out very well there.

this is another dust-up in the on-going civil war.trump was a bigger one.it's been going on for a while now.trump's rhetoric has made it worse.when will it end?
I don't think it will end until Trump and his cronies are out of office. I just hope we can get back to being a civilized society after that and the damage they have done can be undone or will it be like trying to put Pandora back in the box.

Sorry to say, I've become extremely pessimistic since all of this Trump nonsense started, I don't think that there will be an end to the low brow alt-right activity...I think things will continually become worse.
Pandora cannot be put back in the box.

We now have a corrupt criminal in the White House that has a big percentage of followers that approve and encourage any dirty method of advancing their agenda...they have advanced to control all three branches of our government and we are now seeing the results of their takeover....We are shocked....do we continue to play by the rules and hope that good will prevail or do we play hardball? I vote for hardball.

As for a new Supreme Court judge....give them what they gave us.....block their nominees at all cost, fight them tooth and nail.....if there's not a law that a president under serious investigations like Trump is under can not nominate a SC judge there should be one..... There should be more businesses turning these people away, as to concerns of where it leads, I say that there is already enough and more horror coming from these liars and Nazi acting people to warrant a 'stand up and fight back' movement. March in the street....open your wallet and give to candidates that will fight them. If rigged elections and taking babies from their parents (just two examples out of a long list) is not worth standing up and fighting for, I don't know what is.

It's going to be difficult to block any SC judge without at least one Republican standing with the Democrats on this issue. There is a possibility that at least 2 may.
Civility is going right out the door...refusing service to people on a daily basis is acting more like Trumpism. Is public shaming going to be the new norm? It's going to spin out of control and a lot more people are going to get hurt badly. We are better than that!
Senator Kamala Harris has an on line petition going..."No vote on Trump SCOTUS nominee" action.kamalaharris.org/sign/petition-180627-kennedy-social/ I signed it...will you?

VOTE and be sure all your friends and family do the same. Voter turnout in this country is shameful.

Is it much different than people using their religious views to deny others rights to services, when they find certain acts to be an abomination. As one of those people some religious believers (not spiritual at all but brainwashed and controlled weaklings) find an abomination, I find their 'certain acts' like hatred and hiding behind a religion to spread fear, bully others, and brag about the hate they have for people who are different, to be an abomination. Different strokes. Hate, bullying, and spreading fear isn't spiritual. It's nothing more than a group of sociopaths gathered together to harm others because they're different. By saying it's their religion sounds a lot better than saying they're a bunch of hateful crackpots. If it's at all possible that any of them really are Christians I have some bad news for them. Using God's name in vain is the one and only unforgivable sin. Attaching their God's name to their deceitful and evil practices will not be forgiven. It's unforgivable. In other words the Heat is on. While I'd love to live in a constant state of kumbaya it ain't gonna happen. Do I like taking an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Nope. I do not. I also don't like walking around as a one eyed toothless goody two shoes. They drew a line in the sand, stepped over it, punched us in the gut, looked us in the eye and lied, robbed us blind, and laughed at us. They expected us to roll over and beg like good little Liberals. Surprise. Surprise.
