I am a practicing Lutheran, but I believe strongly in the separation of church and state, and that a person's religious views or lack thereof has no place in formulation or implementation of law or policy.
I find it deeply troubling that Jeff Sessions (who is meaner than a sack of rattlesnakes, in my view) publicly quotes Biblical scripture in an attempt to justify the handling of illegal immigrants. The question of whether the particular scripture he quoted even pertains to the situation is, to me, irrelevant, even though I believe he is cherry-picking scripture in an attempt to support an unconscionable position, as did slave owners, Nazis, and assorted others.
The real issue, to me, is that the Attorney General of the United States should not be quoting or relying on scripture to support anything he does. The Constitution should rule his decisions, not the Bible, if we are to have separation of church and state. The Christian Bible should have no more relevance to secular decisions than the Torah, or the Koran, or whatever other sacred writings citizens rely on for their religious beliefs.

The Christian Bible should have no more relevance to secular decisions than the Torah, or the Koran, or whatever other sacred writings citizens rely on for their religious belief +1 again.
All of these un-Godly, un-American words and deeds SHALL come back and haunt the GOP and it's vile players like Sessions...with interest.

Unfortunately, medieval style christianity is far from extinct.

Unfortunately, medieval style christianity is far from extinct. It's uncanny how one botched election can set back enlightenment 2000 years...
