Even Ryan has admonished Trump on this matter...I don't think he'd dare.

Can Trump pardon himself? He can certainly sign the paper if he wants to. Who is to say no? Has Congress done much to control him since he took office? Would Jeff Sessions, Attorney General, tell him no? It would eventually be up to the Supreme Court to rule on the legality.
Today's Supreme Court leans conservative. It is a very different animal from the Supreme Court of 40 or even 20 years ago. The sentiment in that body changes each time a new Justice comes on the court and each of the 9 members is only one heartbeat away from there being a vacant seat. Ginsberg is now 85, Kennedy is 81, Breyer is 79, Thomas is 69 and Alto is 68. Any six members plus Chief Justice Roberts constitutes a quorum. Who chooses new Justices? Basically it is Mitch McConnell unless the Senate goes Democratic in November.
And talking about 'who can imagine.' Ten years ago, who could have imagined that we would ever, ever have to call Donald Trump "Mr. President?" Had someone asked me, I would have said "when pigs fly."

I hate to say this.. but you are right.. Whose going to stop him? The only chance we have is for Democrats to take over the House and issue articles of Impeachment. But would he be convicted in the Senate.. well that takes 67 votes... What is the chance of that.. slim to none... I'm afraid the stupidity and ignorance of the Trump supporter is what is going to save the day for trump.. sadly... the rest of us are going to pay the price... Hell... the entire world is.

But, but he is innocent, so why is he thinking of pardoning himself?

It's always good to prepare oneself and think ahead.

My prediction - for what it's worth - is that Trump will resign to spend more time with his family , the usual resignation reason. Then V. P. Mike Pence will be sworn in and his first action as president will be to issue a massive pardon excusing everyone even remotely involved in the Trump fiasco for any and everything they might have done wrong since birth.

...and that will insure a landslide election for whatever non-GOP candidate is running in 2020.

It's a palatable scenario but I would worry what Pence would do while in office. His idea of morality leaves me cold and nervous. It's just possible he could be worse than Trump in domestic policies. And in foreign policy...can you imagine him stopping Putin from invading Ukraine?...or anyone else?
