Our Middle East wars are not about religion. They are about money and power. Religion is merely used as a recruitment tool and a tool to promote division (divide and conquer). It prevents people from uniting for the benefit of all and forces people to choose up sides.
Billions of dollars were profited from the Afghan and Iraq wars. The West's military industrial complex experienced tremendous profits from those wars and continues to profit from Middle East conflicts. The military industrial complex along with contractors like Halliburton were essentially contracted to overtly and covertly protect Middle East oil for the benefit of Western consumers, resulting in tremendous profits for oil companies.
These wars have been falsely labeled as religious wars. Muslims are fighting against oppressive Jews and Christians. Jews and Christians have promoted the notion that Muslims want to kill us all.
Since Israel acquired independence, the West has exploited it for strategic purposes. The West has funneled billions of dollars into the Israeli economy and its military, for without that money, Israel would essentially be a third world country and would be vulnerable to attack from oil rich neighbors. In return, the West has established military bases within Israel's borders. Should a neighboring country attack Israel, it will face the wrath of not just a formidable Israeli military propped up with Western money, but it will face the military might of the West itself.
In terms of resources, Israel has nothing to offer so the only reason the West supports Israel is for strategic advantage militarily which is used to protect Middle East oil fields.
Over the years since Israel's independence, the West (primarily the US) has propped up brutal dictators in oil rich countries. If those dictators got out of hand, the West propped up rebels to overthrow the dictators with the promise of establishing a new, Western friendly regime and again, if the new regime got out of hand, the West was there to support new rebels dependent on which side was most loyal to our (American oil companies) interests. The West has betrayed those on both sides with the only goal being to ensure the flow of oil while never giving any consideration whatsoever to the interests of masses of people who live throughout the region. That has caused bitter resentment from "the people" who simply want the West out of the region.
In short, capitalists who have paid a lot of money to elect puppet politicians who will further their agendas are directly responsible for our involvement in the Middle East. If it weren't for oil companies, and the military industrial complex hired to protect oil interests, we'd have no reason for being there. How many young American soldiers have fought and died, not to protect our borders and our citizens, but to protect the interests of capitalists?
