This thread is to post about anything, no matter how little (or big), that lifted your spirits today, or any time recently.
Today, I have three things.
I found a line of pies that have no sugar added, sweetened with Sucralose. I love blueberry pie, so bought one to try. It's much lower in calories. It gave me a lift to know that, as having Diabetes Type 2, I can still have some pie occasionally.
I had several heavy bags of groceries to get home this afternoon, and offered the cab driver a few extra dollars to get them into my lobby by the elevators. He not only did that, but brought the bags to the 9th floor and put them beside my apartment door. It felt good to encounter such a friendly and gracious man who 'went that extra mile' for me.
Today's eye checkup showed no changes from last time. That's always uplifting news.
If anyone has things that made them feel good, it would be lovely to share them with your fellow TRF friends.

My scale was kind this morning, gave me the lowest weight reading since August 28th. A good morale boost!

Today, I had one of those experiences that renews a person's faith in humanity:
I'd checked out my groceries, and went to the pay phone to call a taxi. It was being used by a young fella, maybe in his late teens, holding the phone but not speaking. I asked if he would be long. He said he was on hold, waiting for the electric company to get back to him, and would just be a minute. I said when those people have you on hold, it is NEVER 'just a minute'. After another bit of time, I politely told him that these phones are just meant for people to arrange rides home with their groceries. He ignored me.
Another man came up behind me, a man perhaps in his mid thirties, holding a few bags of groceries He asked if I was waiting to call a cab. I said yes, and assumed he was too. He asked whereabouts I lived. I told him the general area, and he said he's in that area too. He asked if I'd like to share a ride, and I said okay. Turns out he meant in his vehicle, not a taxi like I'd thought.
I hesitated, a little apprehensive to go off in a stranger's car. He read my expression and said it's alright, I'm a normal guy just wanting to do a favour. I agreed because he seemed fine. He carried my groceries, loaded them into a big black SUV, and took my hand to help me up into the vehicle (I am very short!). Anyway, during the ride we had the most pleasant conversation, and he is a truly nice person. He said he only had his vehicle 6 months, so he knew what it was like to have to walk. Turns out he is a single parent raising two children, starting when the youngest was only 5 months old. I told him about my son having raised a son on his own since the boy was 2. We did first-name intros, and his is Ferris (As in Ferris Bueller's Day Off). By the time we got to my place, we were gabbing away like old friends! When we arrived at my building, I offered him the $10 bill I had in my pocket for the cab ride. He politely declined to take it. He took my hand to help me down, lifted my groceries out, and we said our goodbyes with smiles.
I hope this encounter left him feeling as good as it did me. You can bet that it made my day!
