This is unbelievable...another move to undo the good. Trump administration looks to roll back vehicle emission standards The Trump administration is expected to launch an effort in coming days to weaken greenhouse gas emissions and fuel economy standards for automobiles, handing a victory to car manufacturers and giving them ammunition to potentially roll back standards worldwide. The move — which undercuts one of President Barack Obama's signature efforts to fight climate change — would also propel the Trump administration toward a courtroom clash with California, which has vowed to stick with the stricter rules even if Washington rolls back federal standards. That fight could end up creating one set of rules for cars sold in California and the 12 states that follow its lead, and weaker rules for the rest of the states, in effect splitting the nation into two markets. Scott Pruitt, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, is expected to frame the initiative as eliminating a regulatory burden on automakers that will result in more affordable trucks, vans and SUVs for buyers, according to people familiar with the plan. An EPA spokeswoman confirmed that Pruitt had sent a draft of the 16-page plan to the White House for approval. www.startribune.com/trump-administration-looks-to-roll-back-vehicle-emission-standards/478358143/

Of course - it benefits both the oil industry - and the auto industry - and, of course, the most recent limitations to be applied are from Obama'a presidency

"The rules, aimed at cutting tailpipe emissions of carbon dioxide, a major contributor to global warming, were one of the two pillars of Obama's climate change legacy. Put forth in 2012, they would have required automakers to nearly double the average fuel economy of new cars and trucks to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025."
==============================================================================================
54.5 MPG on trucks.. that does not sound reasonable.

Just a few years ago, vehicles sold in California had different emission standards than in any other state. Somewhere along the line, that changed. Emission and fuel standards have been good for our health, our climate, and our pocketbooks. People have to use vehicles to get to work, to school, to the grocery store, etc. With the cost of gasoline as it is, those folks living paycheck to paycheck will be struggling even more as vehicles cost more to drive. The wealthy don't care. I doubt Trump has even driven a car in the past decade or two. He has a limo and driver. Pad the pockets of the oil barons. Let the riff raff suffer.

We have a Republican Senate, a Republican House, and thanks to Obummer's dropping the ball on the Scalia replacement, a Republican Supreme Court. Given those circumstances this would have happened with any Republican President.

and thanks to Obummer's dropping the ball on the Scalia replacement No, he didn't drop the ball...the 10 month long stonewall by Senate Republicans that not only obstructed the high court's ability to do its job but effectively stole the nomination of a new justice from President Obama.

Do you honestly think Trump, or any other Republican President would have let the Democrats get away with something like that? All you have to do is look at the way the Republicans fought for their gerrymandered map in your state. And they are still fighting, trying to punish the judges that ruled against them with impeachment. Compared to that Obama and the Democrats just rolled over and played dead.

See my edited post above. Republicans don't give a damn about the rules, Republicans don't give a damn about the law. They will do "whatever it takes" to win. They will gouge eyes, kick gonads, bite off an opponents ear, use every dirty fighting trick known to man in order to win. Democrats on the other hand are a bunch of wimps trying to win with logic and reason. No wonder they always lose.

I was edited as you were responding. I didn't see your response. But that changes nothing. I could not agree with you less on this point.
Not that it matters. The bottom line is that the Republicans control everything now. And as long as that situation exists they are going to make the most of it. Darker days are ahead.
