With everything going on right now in the news...
How safe do you feel where you reside right now?

What makes you feel safe? Good neighborhood, good neighbors, police, etc?

What makes you feel safe? Good neighborhood, good neighbors, police, etc? Where I live ( Complex ) nothing ever happens. Now if I lived in the inner city that would different.

I live in a small township and feel very safe. I have great neighbors. Far enough from Pittsburgh that if it was bombed my township would not be affected. I have a squeaking front door that lets me know if anyone is there and 2 attack cats! My cats are so fierce that if anyone comes they hide.

My cats are so fierce that if anyone comes they hide. hahaha....that made me laugh. My cats hurry to get by me, growl like crazy, then go find a hiding spot.

I feel very safe! I'm in a quiet neighbourhood, away from downtown.
My building has security cameras facing the entrances that can be viewed from all apartments. A visitor has to know and dial your personal intercom code and announce themself for you to buzz them into the building. I have 3 locks on my apartment door. Prospective new tenants are carefully vetted before being allowed to move in. We have on-site management and maintenance staff. There is a security guard on duty all through the night.
An ideal situation for an elderly single female!

When I get there, I'm gonna tell everyone to have a party and cremate me if I die. I once went to the Saint Elmo's bar in Bisbee Az. when they had a band playing there. And they were having a wake for a regular that had been cremated. And everyone was taking turns dancing with her in her earn. That was a hell of a great send off. As far as felling safe, I sleep with a loaded .357 under my other pillow....and there's only eight other houses in WALKER MANOR development. If I ever have to shoot, my bedroom will probably explode because of my oxygen tank. But I consider death as my nest great adventure. I wonder if the A-hole I shoot will feel that way too.

I feel fairly safe, I live 4 miles outside of a small town but have several neighbors that look after each other. I do live on a busy road....I have a little white guard dog that yelps her head off if anything or anyone strange gets in our yard....I can always watch her reactions when inside to know if there is anything going on outside as I'm nearly deaf. I also have my granddaughter living next door....once when I had to have a plumber (when a hot water heater leaked) came out at night...they came running over to see what was up...that makes me feel safe.

I feel very safe. My only neighbors are family, we have no keys to our house, doors have never been locked. My guns are locked in the gun safe. I never carry outside my property unless going to the sportsmans club. My road is lightly traveled,so much so that if a strange vehicle comes down it it is noticed and sometimes even a topic of discussion.
I only worry about things that I can control. I am confident that our nut case will bomb Korea before Korea bombs us. Our little porky friend with the bad haircut is more sane than the orange fool!

I am sure I could find things to be afraid of ~ yet I feel safe even while hiking out remotely. I just don't have a real fear as I am always careful. The unexpected can always happen and take away my sense of safety.
I had that once when my husband had a meltdown. I did the sensible thing and packed up my over night bag and left. I let him calm down before I returned. He was admitted to the mental health floor later on.

I feel safe enough, I suppose, though not as much as I did in years past. I am aware of my surroundings and careful when I am out and about -- not paranoid or weird, just careful. There are things I don't do anymore, like walk my dogs at night.
I don't feel that our democracy (or my Social Security) is safe any more though, and that I lay directly at the feet of Trump and the GOP.
