....other than your own (pretend your religion doesn't exist), which religion would you likely choose and why?

Since the question is, "If you HAD to...." I will assume there is some circumstance forcing me to choose one so I would choose the one that is least likely to get me killed. But if I were choosing freely I would convert to Judaism (not Orthodox) because they have the lowest rate of crime, family breakups and other undesirable social problems. Maybe I could learn from them to be a better person. My second choice would be to join the Mennonites who live simply and peacefully, mind their own business.

I'd probably choose being a Baptist because I know some family members as well as friends that are, and they do pretty much the same things as I, concerning my religion...so I'd pick that, lol. What a reason, right?

I'd probably choose Buddhism. It's a path of practice and spiritual development leading to insight into the true nature of reality. Buddhist teaching are straightforward and practical: nothing is fixed or permanent; actions have consequences; change is possible. It teaches practical methods which enable people to realize and use its teachings in order to transform their experience, to be fully responsible for their lives.

Been there, done that. Chose Scientific Christianity, (which isn't Christian Science or Scientology.) It includes all the useful concepts of most religions without great disagreement, viewing science through the vision of Christ.

I'd go Lutheran. Those folks know how to drink beer I'm surrounded by Lutherans in this Norwegian community...yup, that might be it. Although I wouldn't mind the religion of an American Indian culture either.

I'm an atheist (which is no religion), but if I had to choose a religion, I'm with Drifter and louie. Buddhism or Native American beliefs would be my choice based on the ideas that everything is interconnected. As the top "intelligent beings" who hold the power to destroy Earth as we know it, it is our responsibility to be caretakers and preservers of the Earth and ALL its inhabitants.

Probably Buddhism. I prefer certain aspects of the Taoist philosophy over Buddhism, and I don't really care for either one of them in their entirety, but probably Buddhism. An Americanized version of Buddhism of course.

Like the majority here, I would likely say Buddhism as well.

I would choose a religion where I could have more than one wife. Are you a masochist?

I am unlabelled. I don't totally dismiss the idea of a god/ess. I do believe in some kind of spirits. Even though Buddhism is not actually a religion as it has no diety, that is what I would choose. I am very interested in Buddhism and have done a lot of reading and some practices - meditation, mindfulness. And we enjoy our winters in a Buddhist culture - Thailand.
