Christians seem to have God figured out when it comes to surviving tragedy or mishaps.
“Thank God my family didn’t die in that plane crash.”
“Thank God we survived the earthquake, or the hurricane, or the tornado, or the flood.”
“Thank God my daughter wasn’t killed in that mass shooting.”
Or...“Thank God my car only needed to have a sensor replaced instead of having a blown engine.”
“The roads were so icy. Thank God, I made it home in one piece.”
It would appear, Christians believe God is responsible for all the good that comes to them, but what about the bad?
“I lost my wife in the plane crash.”
“The roads were so icy. I lost control and hit a tree and my dog didn’t survive the crash.”
“The mud slide took my house with everyone inside. They all died.”
Christians are always sure it was God’s will to save “me” or “us” from something horrible, even when other people may have been hit with injuries or death.
Is it Lucifer who causes bad? Televangelists have the answer. That tornado hit “Anytown, USA” because a lot of homosexuals lived there, or because there was an abortion clinic there, or a mosque. Hmmm, then it’s not always Lucifer. If Christians are so against homosexuals, abortion, Muslims, etc., then why don’t they thank God for the carnage he caused to eliminate “those evil people?” Something you won't hear from a victim of tragedy...“Yeah, I lost my wife and kids, but thank God for destroying the Mosque.”
I would like to know why Christians give God credit for saving, but never hold him responsible for harming. You rarely hear Christians damn God for all the harm he causes. Why is that? Please don’t give me the standard, “God works in mysterious ways.” That’s a cop out. If you know with absolute certainty, God is responsible for good, then you must also know, he is responsible for bad. Why aren’t Christians pissed off at God for causing carnage throughout the world…and throughout the universe for that matter?
