A beloved family tradition - hosting a large family Christmas dinner - is probably the cause. It happened and I'm sure it was wonderful but one of the 20 something grandkids had Covid but did not yet show symptoms. She fell ill the following day.
Several attendees became ill and most have recovered O. K. but one remains hospitalized (was on ventilator for days) and hostess's husband of 30 years sickened and died.
This branch of family is rabid Republican. Perhaps all still thought virus was a hoax.
I'm sad and also very angry.
Thanks for letting me vent in a safe place.

I am so sorry for your loss. People always think that it can happen to the other person, not to them.

Thanks, all. I cannot help but wonder about the country's condition now if there had been truth and transparency about how dangerous it was from the beginning, January 2020. Bob Woodward's book, RAGE, should be required reading for every adult. It will surely be a part of Trump's legacy.
My B-I-L was one of the good guys. He did not deserve this.
