In junior high school homeroom every day they would make one person get up in front of the class and read a bible verse. And if you tried to be a smart a$$ and picked a short one like "Jesus wept" for your verse the teacher would make read another longer one. So the trick was to pick a verse that was just long enough so that they wouldn't make you read another. I used to really hate that and dreaded those days when it would be my turn.
Thank God when we got to High School they didn't make us do that crap.

When was under God added to the pledge? The official name of The Pledge of Allegiance was adopted in 1945. The last change in language came on Flag Day 1954 when the words "under God" were added. Pledge of Allegiance (United States) - Wikipedia
Interesting "under God" wasn't added until 1954 due to McCarthyism and fears of the Godless Commies.

God was never in any classroom I attended. At least not as part of the curriculum or routine. If the prescense of God in a classroom prevents violence why is there not daily carnage in the schools of all "non Christian" nations? Not even worth discussing!

God can't be locked out of schools....they just don't want holier than thou's telling others "My God is better than your god."
The god that lets politicians take food from hungry children, and raise taxes on the poor, and take healthcare from from the elderly, will never be my God.
