No comments here on the North and South border mess? IMHO, close the border, kick out those that came in illegally and process those that came in legally. It is a joke how much is being spent on these so called migrants who have nothing but are well dressed, have phones and look as if they have never missed a meal. The murderer that was just caught in PA was an illegal and his sister is now being deported. They will not deport him because he will just come back. If Biden wants to be re-elected, he had better take a stand.

‘Most eager to work’ Put them to work
At a press conference Tuesday morning, Healey repeatedly emphasized the importance of expediting work authorizations. Those coming to the state have a strong desire to work, and Massachusetts needs them because of “significant” labor shortages, she said.
“The truth is, our new arrivals are most eager to work. The last thing they want to do is be dependent, and we could frankly use their help at this time,” Healey said.
We need workers, they need jobs, looks like a win, win.
“They are here because where they came from is too dangerous to stay. They are here because Massachusetts has, and will always be, a beacon of hope, compassion, humanity, and opportunity. They are here because, like any of us, they would do anything, endure any hardship, to protect and support the people they love, especially their children,” Healey said, speaking of migrants coming to Massachusetts.
The state is adding shelter units each week, and spending $45 million on programs to help these families, but will not be able to keep up with demand unless “extraordinary measures” are taken, Healey wrote.
Healey’s emergency declaration allows her to call up National Guard members to help more quickly. It also lets the state bypass regular procurement rules in bid processes for vendors and contractors, allowing them to be hired faster. Healey can also now formally appeal to President Biden for relief funding.

Good let the people who come in legally work. They need excellent paying jobs in order to afford to live in Massachusetts. Seems like the tax payers should have a say in where their money is spent since when this money runs out services to the citizens are going to be cut. Maybe all the states should send all of these migrants to Massachusetts. It is against the law to enter our country illegally. If they wish to work and live here obey the laws.

Nkat We need immigration reform. That is something Biden can't do alone. It takes congress to make changes to allow workers to enter our country. Good luck with that. Overall, they are better behaved than citizens. They come here to earn money to support families back home, but they also spend money here. I worked at a 711 in Sonoma County, California. They came in every morning to get breakfast and lunch for the day. They lived in cheap apartments, but a lot of the money they earned was spent here. They pay taxes. They help, not harm local economies. Some businesses can't survive without them.

Ok, It will help everyone if we get uppity, shelf righteous, and hate the people we are jealous of. Take a deep breath and let's try and be compassion, humane. There have been surges on the US southern border for a long time, even before Biden
The problem has been, Congress not have the guts to have meaningful, border reforms.
In the news, a lady died felling off the border wall

Inspector, what was the lady who fell doing on the wall? Our country is very compassionate with the illegals but not so much with the veterans and homeless. Letting children start school in NYC with no immunisations and releasing unvetted people into the country. I really think that is not compassionate but.stupid. Unfortunately the buck stops with Biden. Heard on CNN that both Republicans and Democrats are fed up with the borders.

No, I do not see the bill the Congress passed going to Biden's desk, until then, the buck stops with Congress! If they are fed up, they should be passing, a bill to fix things! No bill, no money, no fix, just a political attack on Biden! Which is a Waste of hot air.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free...
Perhaps there are people in other countries who are yearning to be free. Yearning so much for freedom they risk their lives, leave their families, friends, and country to do so.
Not all people are perfect. Not even us. I can't even imagine leaving my country, my home, family and friends to start a new life. Can you?

Not without a bankroll, someone to sponsor me and a place to stay like when my grandparents came here fleeing Communist oppression. They did not come to make more money to send back to their families. Most of all they came legally not expecting this country to house them, feed them and give them free medical. Nkat

Yeah. Mine did too.
Let's not forget there were other people living here before your distant relatives and mine got here.
Those people, Native Americans, were slaughtered, their land taken, their horses killed, their women taken advantage of. Probably their children too.
Our distant relatives were looking for a better life too. They were not perfect. The times were different. Seeking a better way of life is still the same for some people.

Nkat Most of the people entering from the south come here seeking asylum just as your grandparents did. They're fleeing brutal dictatorships and/or brutal rebellions. Just because they can make more money here doesn't mean that's why the come. Yes, in some cases, it's about money, but it's due to the fact that they can't survive on what's available in their home country. In any case, they come because their lives are threatened. When it's about money for basic survival, if they had a bankroll, they wouldn't need to come here...and probably wouldn't. No one wants to leave their home country. Hell, Americans could have a higher standard of living in some other countries, but we don't leave - because our lives aren't threatened by the government or rebellions or lack of opportunity to survive.

I strongly suspect desperate people don't devote much consideration to the legality of their decisions. Most of these people are in need of compassion - not condemnation.
