abcnews.go.com/Politics/gop-leaders-defend-members-calling-biden-liar-state/story?id=96980039Top House Republicans, including Speaker Kevin McCarthy, on Wednesday defended their members for heckling President Joe Biden and calling him a "liar" during Tuesday night's State of the Union address. While the evening saw GOP outbursts when Biden mentioned the southern border and fentanyl crisis, the shouts of "liar" happened when Biden, referring to the debt ceiling standoff, said "some Republicans" had proposed Social Security and Medicare programs be "sunset" every five years for renewal as part of a cost-cutting plan put out by Florida Sen. Rick Scott last year, but not endorsed by GOP leadership. ============================================= About time that Biden and many Democrats stop using the lie that the R's are out to do away with SS and Medicare to sacre the uninformed to get votes.

About time that Biden and many Democrats stop using the lie that the R's are out to do away with SS and Medicare to sacre the uninformed to get votes. What a fool you are....to believe that nonsense when it's right out there in their own words! Or, you're just trolling trying to rile folks up. Most likely a bit of both IMO.

I watched the State of the Union carefully and I was very impressed. It was well crafted, intelligent and politically savvy. The way it was presented was very relatable, not just a list of achievements. It outlined problems that need to be addressed and looked to the future where working people would be financially secure, with better health outcomes.
The stories about Biden's diminishing mental acuity were shot down by the quickness of his responses to interjections. Compared to the SOTU speech I saw the previous president deliver it was quite distinguished.

Scott's proposal said "All federal programs..." should be sunset every 5 years. He has no idea how many thousands of federal programs there are!!! The GOP just wants all programs to end, then resurrect those that fit their political agenda... or the agenda of their political donors.
Like so many of the GOP today, it's difficult to speak the truth when you can't even breath with your head stuck where it is. They need a window in their abdomen to see out and a breathing tube sticking out of their navel.

A fool is one that buys the BS that the R's are going to do away with SS and Medicare. Sunset programs do not elimiate them. Biden wanted to sunset ALL programs on 7/9/1975 and again on 1/31/1995.

I see, you never bothered to look at the link I provided you, as proof your R's intend to sunset SS and Medicare. How difficult is it going to be for them to do so now, since they all admitted at the SOTU they won't touch them?!

Ok fool...here's your proof, straight from the mouth of Republican Mike Lee, but he's not the only one. I've heard my own senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin take a similar stance - right there with Rick Scott and others. Here's a recent article from a Right-leaning media outlet with actual quotes from members of congress proposing ways to cut Social Security and Medicare. thehill.com/finance/3850036-republicans-social-security-medicare-debt-ceiling/Raising the age of eligibility is a cut. "Sunsetting" opens the door for cuts. "Privatizing" opens the door for corruption with one of the largest cash reserves in our country - money most of us who are retired couldn't survive without, and money financial institutions are salivating to get their greedy hands on. Big business and the wealthy have had the advantage for decades. CEOs who were making about 50 times what their average workers made in 1980, now make well over three hundred times average worker wages, yet here you are, the consistent fool defending them. Their incomes have risen by over 1400% while the rest of us have only seen about an 18% increase. The people running the largest and most profitable corporations in the world own the Republican party. They care nothing about everyday Americans. They care only about money and leveraging that money into power and control. Defending them makes you an enemy of the public good. Want to make Social Security and Medicare solvent for eternity? Remove the cap. Those making over $160,000 a year can afford to pay more. We, who make far less, can't afford cuts.

You make accusations of what Buden may or may not have done decades ago. I'm not going to fact-check it because that's definitely not where Biden stands today...which is why Republicans booed him. He will veto any plans to sunset or cut programs vital to the survival of everyday Americans.

I hope you understand that Biden is pulling one of the oldest tricks in the political book. He is deverting attention of his failed Presidency by attacking others with claims that are not true. Your thread is a good example of that.

Your thread is a good example of that. My thread? Who's the real fool here....YOU! You are the one that started this BS thread, not me! oldmontana better takes his blinders off to see the truth....Biden has gotten more accomplished in 2 years than that failed loser did in 4. Yeah, yeah...I know...you hate Biden and Democrats, so no matter what anyone has to say, you just don't want to hear it. Aren't you glad TRF hasn't banned politics like SF did, so you have a place to post your ridiculous political rhetoric. It's really hard to take you seriously.

You're not politically savvy enough to know what the oldest tricks in the political book are. I mean, c'mon...you didn't even know that this is your thread. It's this level of stupidity that makes it so much fun to have you around. Most of us here consider ourselves to be just everyday people, but when you speak, you make us look like geniuses.
