I was thinking about how those on the Right condemn homosexuals. Their condemnation seems to be based on the idea that members of the LGBTQ community have made the wrong “choice.” That could only mean one of two things. Either they know nothing of the science behind “gayness,” and that being any form of LGBTQ is not a “choice,” or, they have homosexual tendencies they’ve chosen to closet – at least, to the best of their ability. What they also don’t seem to understand, is that homosexuality isn’t strictly a human condition. It occurs throughout the animal kingdom, from apes to horses, cows and dogs. I suppose a lot of religious people believe we’re somehow different from the rest of the animal kingdom. Being an atheist, I would disagree. Yes, we have a more complex brain that has superior reasoning ability, but the same can be said about a chimp compared to a lizard. But I digress… The fact is, if someone thinks various forms of gayness are “choices,” it would seem he/she is either homosexual or at least, bisexual. C’mon…how many Republicans who have taken a firm stand against members of the LGBTQ community have been caught with their pants down?

I was thinking about how those on the Right condemn homosexuals. The Right is comfortable with hypocrisy, that is their main strategy for existence. There always has to be a "them" to hate and fear, that keeps the followers following.

The GOP is not big on science and reality, many people, were taught these things were bad, so the GOP is just going to use, their beliefs, to get power.
The sad thing is the GOP is calling this freedom, they seem to be trying to free people to hate, and discriminate, against people, that these people were taught were bad.
How only being able to only, teach what the state want is freedom, (is new-speak, at it highest)
The GOP belief seem to be that the people should be the sheep of the free enterprise system, which is the cause of high gas prices and inflation, which they blame on the government.
Does the GOP want to go down like Venezuela, they very good at complaining, and very short on solutions.

Funny thing is, there is no mention of homosexuality or sodomy in the New Testament (the Christian Bible). Even if there were, the New Testament isn't something anyone should believe in. The entire Bible (old and new) is riddled with contradictions, and the New Testament has been pushed and pulled around so much, it can't help but be anything but the truth. I may have stolen this meme from someone here - can't remember...

I think of The Bible as an interesting historical document, written in long-ago times by fallible humans with specific agendas and beliefs. It is certainly not the 'Word Of God' imo. I actually doubt if there is a God, but don't completely rule it out, because I simply don't know...I guess that makes me an agnostic.
The Bible, in one instance, instructed slaves to obey their masters. The Bible can be interpreted/misinterpreted to justify most anything. If everyone followed The Golden Rule of 'Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You', there'd be little need for religious doctrines, dogma, or antiquated texts.

I don't wish to turn this into a religious discussion. I went through a similar thought process about the existence of God. A couple of weeks ago I learned, there are seven billion, billion, billion, atoms in an average sized human. That's a seven with 27 zeros after it. We can't really conceive what a million is, let alone what seven billion, billion, billion is. I took it further. Each one of those atoms has a nucleus with neutrons and protons, and all of those parts are made up of particles. That's one human being. There are eight billion humans on Earth. I would assume, if an average human weighs about 150lbs or so, all other animals of comparable weight would have about the same number of atoms, but regardless, there are billions, trillions, maybe quadrillions or quintillions - or probably an even higher number of animals on Earth from whales down to one-celled animals, and we still haven't added in all the plants and solid/liquid matter the Earth is made up of. Earth is a relatively small planet, but let's add in all the planets and the Sun (a tiny star) in our tiny solar system. There are over 100 billion stars in our relatively small galaxy. Estimates indicate there may be more than two trillion galaxies in the Universe, and we have no idea whether or not there are multiple universes. The notion that an entity basically waved his hand and magically created all this is for me, about the most absurd thing imaginable. Based on the sheer numbers (because I'm a believer in science), the notion that we answer to "our creator" is equally absurd, so who is to say whether or not LGBTQ behavior is right or wrong? None of us are qualified to make that judgement. I agree, the Golden Rule should be our foundation for living a good and proper life.

Very telling! Lol, you just made tnthomas's point. You're one of the followers he's talking about, and you have a track record here we can all rely on. I have yet to read anything from you that talks about what Republicans are doing for the masses...because there hasn't been anything, yet you keep defending them. You're a follower of people who also have a track record - a track record of fighting against anything that will favor the masses, so they can give their wealthy sponsors massive tax breaks. You're blind to it and you've been conned into being a loyal supporter. THAT is what is very telling. I pity you.

If the GOP could not call people and groups names, like dumb, they would have nothing to say.
DeSantis wrote a book, I skimmed through what was said, about it. It appears to be saying, doing things for the greater good is a bad thing? Individuals should NOT be encouraged to do things for the greater good, He seems to believe people should encourage, to be self-serving. (likely why the GOP support him)
The book did not go into his new push to give people total freedom to say anything he believes.
