On election day, the Republicans suffered widespread humiliation. The much-vaunted “red wave” emerged like a hoax, closer to a red ripple. Although the full results are still being counted, we know this much at least: that across all states and time zones, Republicans under performed. This morning, the stench of failure hangs over Donald Trump and his party.
With Trump’s specter hovering over the ballot box like a malignant ghost, democracy and abortion proved to be more resilient issues than predicted.
Crime and inflation remained relevant, but not determinant. Suburban women went Democratic.
Trump scares more than he draws. He’s a turn-off who can’t give up the spotlight or the lies. For Joe Biden and the Democrats, that’s a gift that keeps on giving.

But by next week, they will be claiming wins and the dull cult members will believe it if repeated often enough.

It's refreshing to see FOX 'news' actually tell an accurate account of political events.... Fox: GOP wave fizzles Well, it looks like FOX either took that story down or buried it somewhere.

It's not easy for them to present the truth. How dare they? It offends their loyal viewers. The truth can make you angry but it also can make you free. Too bad they caved.

Fox News is not a legitimate news outlet. It is the media arm of the GOP. Most content is opinion not fact.
The biggest winners on Tuesday were the media outlets. Almost 20 Billion spent on midterm election ads. Proves money can buy a lot of politicians.

This historic midterm will have... is having... a huge impact on politics in the U.S. The "tiger" everyone feared... everyone thought was in control of the GOP... has been proven toothless. It growls. It whines. It complains. It does nothing. The cabal of Fox/Trump/MAGA did not "win". A few of the election deniers won, but many more lost. As someone said, the "Red Wave" fizzled when MAGA tossed their red hats in with their white KKK sheets and the "red" came out a faded pink.
America won on November 8th. Evenly divided housed of Congress will nave to work together to get anything done... or get nothing done. The People will demand action on issues, not simply sitting back and throwing barbs at each other. Biden will keep pushing them.
We were expecting to see Trump begin an endless two-year campaign. Rallies coast to coast. The airways totally taken over by his rhetoric proclaiming his "right" to take back the presidency. Trump is toast. The GOP is a broken political party that will be consumed by viscous infighting. The Trump/DeSantis brawl will be bloody and, hopefully, see neither come out looking like a viable 2024 candidate. It will be like the old adage of two cats. Tie two cats' tails together, toss them over a clothesline, come back an hour later and all that will be left are the two tails. They will have consumed each other.
There will be lawsuit after lawsuit filed by election deniers from the GOP who lost midterm elections. They, just like the lawsuits in 2021, will be tossed by the Courts. By 2024, the "fad" of denying elections will be seen for the farce it is.
I'm anxious to see the political landscape in about June or July of 2023. Trying to predict the fallout to this midterm is impossible. From the GOP already hinting they want to raise the voting age to 21 to questioning why a State would elect an 89 year old to a 6-year term in Congress. From why people who profess Christianity... people who, supposedly, can read and write... people who claim to live the life of righteousness could vote for a Herschel Walker or a Boebert.
I love politics. I only wish we had been taught civics and government in high school. We weren't. Youth needs to understand the workings of our democracy and what they need to do as Americans to guarantee its continued existence. Will there by another "Trump"?? I hope not... at least in my lifetime.
Grab a seat. Pour another cup of coffee. Let's see how democracy works with a one or two vote difference in both houses of Congress for the next couple years. Just be ready to duck during the food fights. Dodge the spit and saliva as taunts and threats are tossed from side to side. Keep your blood pressure medicine close. This is going to be a spectator sport!!!!

Well said 2old. Watching Morning Joe this morning, Donny Deutch suggested, Trump will obliterate DeSantis and that DeSantis has a glass jaw. I'm inclined to agree. Trump is very good at making stuff up on the fly and is quick on his feet. Trump easily deflects when he's cornered. I don't think DeSantis has anywhere near the same skillset. That said, except for FL and a handful of MAGA states, I think people are becoming fed up with the perpetual drama. The midterms would seem to indicate that.

A head-to-head DeSantis/Trump might Just complete the GOP implosion. We can dream, can't we.

I'm wondering how you can have Jesus in your heart with hate and deceit spewing out of your mouth?
Oh, that's right. It's a mystery.

I'm wondering how you can have Jesus in your heart with hate and deceit spewing out of your mouth? Oh, that's right. It's a mystery. Here's how it works with the hypocritical evangelical/fundamentalist right-winger "christens": They say Jesus is in their hearts, but that's only words falling out of their mouths. What's in their hearts is the hate and deceit.
Those types don't really like Jesus, they like to say "Jesus loves me", I guess they think that gives them carte-blanche to hate and be selfish. The ministry of Jesus can only be accurately characterized as an early attempt of a liberal railing against a fascist regime, and established social order. The present day fascists are trying their hardest to spread the "republican Jesus" concept, a sad time here on Earth for real Christians.

Trump said, today, he will "burn the house down around the Republicans" if they pick DeSantis over him. Honestly, I believe he can... and will. I can already smell the sweet smoke wafting through the air as the GOP is neutralized... minimized over the next decade before they can rebuild. GOP Senators are already after McConnell's head. McCarthy will probably be denied the Speaker's position if the GOP pull out a slim majority in the House. Fingers are being pointed in every direction except at themselves. The sane is pitted against the insane. The radicals are pitted against the moderates. The MAGA impact is minimized. But, not one Republican in power can express a rationale solution to fix what has been broken over the past 6 years.
