Was pleased to see in Pennsylvania, Democrats Fetterman beat Oz for Senate and Shapiro beat Mastriano for Governor. What a disaster it would have been for our state, if those republicans would have won.
Republicans didn't get the big red wave as they anticipated.
Are you satisfied with the results for your state?

In California the governor's race was pretty much a shoo-in for Democratic incumbent Gavin Newsome. I'm sure there was a Republican opposing him, but I couldn't even say who that was. The other state offices(Lt. Governor,Atty Gen., Controller etc) remain safe in Democratic control. The one Senate seat contested is also being retained by incumbent Alex Padilla. Our local U.S. Representative remains in control of the Republican incumbent(extremely RED district here). In the L.A. mayoral race the Republican running as a Democrat is slightly ahead of Karen Bass, a real Democrat. Ballot measure results were favorable, in my opinion: Ballot measures · California From The Associated Press
California Proposition 1. Adds the right to abortion and contraceptive use to state constitution. 65.1% Yes · 41% reporting California Proposition 26. Allows Native American tribes to offer sports betting on tribal lands. 70.4% No · 41% reporting California Proposition 27. Legalizes sports betting via agreements with Native American tribes. 83.3% No · 41% reporting California Proposition 28. Increases spending on arts programs in public schools. 61.6% Yes · 41% reporting California Proposition 29. Regulates staffing of kidney dialysis clinics. 69.9% No · 41% reporting California Proposition 30. Imposes a tax to support the purchase of electric vehicles. 59% No · 41% reporting California Proposition 31. Upholds state law barring the sale of flavored tobacco. 62.3% Yes · 41% reporting

Mixed bag, here. We are a strong red state. Have had a great Democratic governor this past 4 years. The GOP ran a MAGA against her. She won my a good margin. Other than the Governor, the State pretty well went red the rest of the way.

Nationally, the "red wave" did not materialize. GOP will probably win the majority in the House. Will be interesting. No sure thing McCarthy will be Speaker. Big split in the GOP. The MAGA bunch hate the moderates. The moderates saw the blowback on many of the MAGA candidates. If the House GOP fights amongst themselves, it will be bloody and fun to watch.
The House GOP majority can try to pass all kinds of right wing trash bills. Biden vetoes them. Even if the GOP take the Senate by one or two spots, they won't have the 60 vote majority to overturn a Biden veto. IOW, nothing will happen the next 2 years!!! With GOP majorities in Congress... that is good news.

nothing will happen the next 2 years Another huge waste of time. It would be so wonderful if the moderates gained control of the GOP and encouraged responsible, hard working Republicans to become involved.

nothing will happen the next 2 years Another huge waste of time. It would be so wonderful if the moderates gained control of the GOP and encouraged responsible, hard working Republicans to become involved. This goes back to 2008 and the election of POTUS Obama. Before he could be inaugurated in 2009, McConnell swore nothing Obama brought to the table would be allowed to pass. They fought tooth and nail against the ACA. Once it passed, how many times did they try to repeal it??!! Total obstructionism... mostly because they did not want a black POTUS to succeed. Things did not change when the American people elected Obama to a second term. In fact, things became even more vile. This is what Trump built upon! Vileness. Hate. Discord. Divisiveness. And... obstructionism. Biden played the GOP and accomplished much. This burns the GOP, especially the MAGA bunch which are pathetic, unpatriotic insurrectionists. The House, under McCarthy, will waste valuable governing time by mounting impeachment proceedings against Biden. They will try to make abortion illegal by federal law. They will try to remove the lowering cost of drugs. They will try to change Social Security and Medicare. All this will be for show because the Senate cannot override a Presidential veto. But, they'll keep trying and obstructing. So much has been accomplished by Biden. So much more needs done. The GOP is not a party that is interested in governing. The GOP is a party the wants power by coercion... power through violence, if necessary... power for the upper 1% at the cost of the middle class.

No joy here in Florida but not much expected. I had so hoped to see Marco Rubio gone.

Not fully...sleazy Ron Johnson kept his senate, but very happy Tony Evers remains governor. Evers has made Wisconsin roads better than I've seen in many years, increased broadband coverage, helped public schools despite having the most gerrymandered Republican legislature in the country. The guy he was running against said, "Republicans will never lose another election after I'm elected governor." Nationally? I'm pleasantly surprised overall. It won't be easy going forward, but it could have been so much worse. Gen-Zs certainly helped, and there'll be more of them in two years - good signs.

No joy here in Florida but not much expected. I had so hoped to see Marco Rubio gone. I couldn't agree more - though I don't live in FL. Val Demmings would have been a vast improvement for the state and for the country. I will say however, as I saw a couple of her speeches, she sometimes came across as angry as opposed to hopeful. That, combined with her raspy voice and the fact that she is black may have turned some people off. That says nothing of the shift to the Right on the part of Hispanic voters.

Long term players in the game of politics have had the rough edges smoothed off. She was late entering the game but I hope she continues to play. Racism - the fabric of the GOP - beat her, not the glory of Rubio.
