The coming extradition standoff has its roots in the U.S. Constitution. Article IV, Section II, Clause 2 states, "A person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime."
The crime would have to be done in the state asking for extradition.
Unless they are going to make it illegal for pregnant women to leave their state and arrest them if they try, they can't stop them, even if they told the police of their intent, they could say they change they mind, They could try and make a law to hold them, but the legal fight would be hard fought.
What if they did not decide to get an abortion until they got into the next state. Unless women are going to be jailed for their thoughts.

"From which 'he' fled." Problem solved. That was easy. ;)
One more time with feeling. Her body. Her choice. Her damn choice! Hers and hers alone. Not yours, not mine. Why is this so difficult? Oh, that's right. It's only a woman. What do they know? Do I have to say this again? If men got pregnant the right to choose would be a sacrament.
Perhaps women need to be the ones in charge, in compete charge, of their own bodies! Isn't it about time? Her body. Her choice. It is so simple and yet we make it so complicated. Her choice. Period.

"The crime would have to be done in the state asking for extradition."
If the "crime" is having an abortion, it would not be done in the state asking for extradition. Some of these red states also are using their own citizens as the "police" goading them into suing those having abortions. That would be a civil matter and not fall under the criminal code of the red state.
It will get interesting, though. Again... and I cannot preach it enough... it all depends on the November 2022 election cycle. If the GOP grabs majorities in both House and Senate, nothing in the way of police action is off the table. If the Dems can hold majorities and increase those majorities enough to kill the filibuster there is hope for putting an end to much of this GOP invasion into the rights and privacy of women.

I can not understand how a thoughtful woman can be a Republican these days.
This is what happens when the state and the church are in bed together.
We need more thinking, rational, intelligent women and men in government. Politics and religion do not, and can not, be sleeping in the same bed. Unless they're just friends. ;)

Religion is too often used as a means to control people and to milk them of their money, etc. I'm an atheist, but I have no problem with those believers who are content to live their religion and respect others enough to leave them in peace to live and worship - or not as they believe or not believe. My big problem is with those who insist - sometimes violently that others must live their chosen religion also. Abbott and DeSantis, in particular are on a major power trip - trying to completely control their state's women - to the point of trying to prevent them from leaving the state to enforce their "no abortion" proclamation. They are reminiscent of ancient so-called civilizations attempting to completely control their women. When are they going to pass a law forbidding women to wear shoes in the winter? Women who vote for these diabolical politicians are brain washed from the cradle up to submit to the male of the species regardless of their own wishes. As a result they are neither valued nor respected by those individuals who demand such obeisance. The GOP power grid and their religious allies have become the American Taliban!

Yes! They are our very own controlling, women hating, taliban. And yet, that's fine and dandy with many of their women.
I can't understand how some women can be part of such a bigoted, two faced, hateful, controlling clump of people. I don't get it.
Do you? If so would you please explain it to me?

I can't understand how some women can be part of such a bigoted, two faced, hateful, controlling clump of people. I don't get it. Do you? If so would you please explain it to me? I believe there are several factors that come into this. First, they are born into this and are inundated with this point of view from the cradle up. To them, there is no other point of view. Anything different is very wrong. "Sinful"!
Second, I believe they are rarely to never exposed to any other point of view. They are "protected" militantly from any other points of view.
By the time they reach adulthood, these views are so entrenched, they are almost impossible to alter in any way. They are so afraid of "God's vengeance" they refuse to think differently about anything. I may have mentioned this before (if so, forgive) but I believe it was a priest who said, "Give me the child until it is 7 and I will give you the adult" The same with trying to force their beliefs on others. God says they should do so. What other people think or want is irrelevant. Only their beliefs are morally justified.

One point, 71% of the economy voted for Biden, and 29% voted Republican for president. Which means more of the Republican voters were poor and likely less educated, that is why education is a threat to the GOP and to Religious fanatics. Burn the books kind of threat!
I told this to a person that is leaning Republican, he could not believe poor voters would vote GOP.
The demographics are switching, the GOP, is the party of the super rich, and the poor, they wish to control.
The more educated and wealthy in cities, which are the engine of the US economy, are voting Democrat.
