Far left Massachusetts Democrat and squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley is still spending thousands on taxpayer-funded private security, despite the fact that she was one of the people who consistently called for defunding the police. I can see that your psyche has been imprinted with all the FOX anti- Rep. Ayanna Pressley trashing propaganda, but that you've actually fallen in love with her.
Please give me your full real name, and I will donate $100 to her campaign committee on your behalf.

I didn't miss anything. Members of "The Squad" are fighting for liberal change. Due to their stated positions, Right-wing nut jobs have threatened them. They are congresspeople. When they come under threat, they require security to ensure their safety regardless of any legislative positions they've taken, and whether it's paid for with campaign funds or taxpayer dollars. And by the way, campaign funds and taxpayer dollars are two different things.
When others have explained what "defund the police" means, you're the one who has missed the point. How many times must you be told, "defund the police" simply refers to a reallocation of funds toward problems police aren't trained for - like mental illness for example.

So we missed your point that we should be mad because, she wishes to improve the police, and you miss your point that she needs protection from left-wing extremists.

There were some that wanted funds taken from our police and give it to social agencies.

"There were some that wanted funds taken from our police and give it to social agencies."How is that a problem? When police have needlessly killed innocent people and/or people with mental or emotional problems, something is wrong with the police. Police have enough on their plates trying to deal with traffic violations, guarding over demonstrations and protecting us from perpetrators of violence, etc. There are numerous situations police aren't trained for. It would be far better to rely on experts in those fields rather than send in heavily armed officers to handle situations they are ill equipped to handle.

The term should be labeled, "re-fund" (not refund), not defund. No one is suggesting we should reduce our budget for protection. They're simply talking about reallocating funds, but you bought into the Right-wing lie that we're going to suffer due to the Left wanting to take money away from protection.
How absurd is it when there was an insurrection that many in your party say was a peaceful protest? You are entirely against the January 6 Committee. We're only halfway through the year with well over 200 mass shootings. We have situations where police are outgunned by bad guys. An 18-year-old kid can walk into a gun store and buy a weapon of war without restrictions, yet is not old enough to buy a handgun. You stand firmly in favor of doing nothing, You're whining about some of our representatives spending money for protection. January 6 and similar situations should tell you, there are a lot of people out there willing to kill legislators we elected to represent our best interests. It's obvious you don't like certain legislators, but because of your position on guns, and the fact that you're whining about legislators spending money on security, it becomes obvious, you support the killing of certain legislators simply because you don't like their positions. Telling...

There were some that wanted funds taken from our police and give it to social agencies. Forgive me if I speak with some authority, but that is because I have experience in these matters. The police won't be losing any money, rather- they will gain budget money to hire / contract with mental health professionals to accompany them on calls that require such expertise.
When you bathe your brain cells in Right Wing propaganda, it's like sitting in the basement naked with a burned-out light bulb overhead.

If you would read my posts I posted that the age to buy guns should be 21 and there should be a three day waiting period. My party? Ok I am a compassionate conservative. Please read what has happened in Seattle. This is happening in many major cities. I see you ignore what is happening and go into a rant. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/seattles-botched-experiment-with-defund-the-police-now-could-mean-unwinding-10000-tows/Seattle’s botched experiment with defund the police keeps getting worse Whether you think defund the police has some merit to it, or not, it’s becoming clear that no entity in the country has bungled the idea more than the city of Seattle. We couldn’t even get the meter reader part of it right. It never made much sense how moving parking enforcement out of the Police Department, and into the roads department, would further social or racial justice. But it was proposed in the hot summer of 2020 anyway, as a way to stick it to the cops by cutting their budget. Along with more meaningful moves, such as moving the 911 dispatch center to a new department to try to shift how many calls are answered by officers with guns. The City Council initially cut the police budget by about 17%, never reaching the 50% goal. But the agency has been in a tailspin ever since. More than 400 officers have left while crime has soared. This past week The Seattle Times and KUOW reported new sex assault cases aren’t being investigated because of understaffing. Meanwhile, the softer approaches envisioned for community safety still are in the pilot stages. OMG! ================================================ You never wanted a discussion, just like tnthomas. Just attack and hope I will leave this board. I should. It is interesting how few post threads on this board.

In most cities I know, the police do not ticket parked cars, So it sounds like bad government planing.
With, All the gun put on the street by the GOP, all cities are having more gun crime. Also, I read all cities are having trouble keeping police, just like with other jobs.
More Guns, more gun crime? Simple
The Conservative way is to do the same old thing and expect things to get better, always afraid to try something new, ye, it might not, work right away, and changes may need to be made, so on.
It is very unlikely that the small change they made to the police, caused all the add crime. This is just the GOP talking points, to scare voters, What would real help is if there were just fewer guns in the US, but we are just going to play the blame game while people die?
