Six cases of chicken pox in our county the past month. The last time we had a case of chicken pox was in 2020 and only one case then. Thought chicken pox has pretty well been wiped out. Know when we were kids... and our kids were kids... it was fairly common.

There is a sizable number of immunology internet "geniuses"(anti-vaxxers) that don't follow recommended child health practices. We all pay the price for the stupidity of the few...

I had chicken pox as a young child. I remember being quarantined at home for a week or so. It was nice having time off from school, and I don't recall being terribly ill, but quite itchy. What I do remember vividly is that during the whole time I couldn't go out to play, the late fall weather was beautiful; then the first day I returned to school, we had our first wintry storm. I felt cheated by Mother Nature!
I assume I'm still immune, but I'm not sure. I had a booster in my mid thirties, but don't know if it included chicken pox coverage along with the other diseases. Because my father was a (hypocritical) Jehovah's Witness, I wasn't allowed any vaccinations during childhood. Once I became a young adult and left home, I arranged to get every available vaccination.
Anti-vaxxers bear a heavy responsibility, even if they don't acknowledge it, for the come-back of several problem diseases, and countless unnecessary deaths from covid. Bah!!!
