I received my first order last month. My insurance company said I can order $50.00 of supplies each quarter. They sent me a catalogue listing all the available products. I called Nations OTC and placed my order. It was delivered 2 days later. Some insurance companies send a card to be used. I noticed that some products at Walgreens Drug Store have a notation next to the price of a product that says "OTC Eligible." This is available to everyone on Medicare (I think) but I've read or heard nothing about it on the news. Any senior I've talked to either doesn't know about this program or is not interested. I find this strange and mystifying.

Oh. That's not fair. Did your insurance company tell you that?

Bc/Bs is my company and they told me that. I am not a gambler and pay more since I do not want to have to meet a high deductible before they start paying. I use to work at BC/BS and know what can happen.

I understood this was a new plan beginning January 1st of 2022. oldmontana ~ how could you be using it for 2 years? Its not a new plan in Montana. Not if you have Montana BC BS Medicare Advantage. We have been getting our so called free items for the last 4 years.

After using the items I ordered, I think they are not that great. I wish I could order them at the drugstore instead. I'd like to see what I am ordering. I ordered 5 or 6 items that I won't order again.

Funny update on the OTC card. My neighbor uses it and when he shops and checks out, he is not buying anything from the list. He bought a pair of shorts, socks, and beer. This was done at Walmart. I doubt that any place that checks folks out want to argue over a list of approved and non approved items.
I just found that to be interesting.
I don't use it as I am on Medicare with CHAMPVA as my secondary.

Your neighbor, like us get cards good for $25 to $50 for getting your annual physical, etc that are good for a store of your choice. It's not part of the OTC plan in my state.

Each state can be different and the Advantage plan here allows you to spend $50 each quarter on whatever you please. It is not monitored or used with a catalog. Basically it is a rip off in my opinion. It is merely a way to convince others to be part of an Advantage plan. They are good programs mostly. However the Advantage Care I dealt with was far more difficult in elderly care coverage than it should be. Those in later stages of live with chronic diseases are not liked well by the plan and cut off needed care. Again, this was in our state.

I'm just surprised how the plan varies from state to state. The catalogue I order from has no pictures of the products, so you're never sure what you will get! I stay with simple things like toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss.
