Some time ago my thinking was hydrogen cars were the way to go, Electric car have come a long way.
Hydrogen, made with solar or wind power would work, the loss in the energy exchange would not be good, though.
We lose a lot of energy in power lines, the closer the power source the better, but people don't wish to live near them, and they are not as easy to make money off, by the big companies.
