The RightWingers throw around the term "Liberal" like it was some kind of insult. Here is the dictionary definition of Liberal:Wear your Liberal label as a badge of honor!

Perhaps the approach should be to refer to their opponents as illiberal, mean and narrow minded.

That is a great idea! It's also true. Lol.
I do wear my Liberal badge as a badge of honor.
I also have special powers. Lol. If I see someone on tv that I have not seen before, especially on a political show, I can tell if they're a Republican/Conservative just by the look on their face.
That scowl, that very serious look, those squinting eyes, and wrinkled forehead, dull eyes with no sparkle.
Extremely serious people who look as though they are afraid to smile or laugh because it might hurt their face. They look worried all the time like a child before checking under their bed for monsters.
President Obama said it best when he said even when they win they aren't happy.
Although I can't blame them. When they actually do manage a smile or a grin it looks forced or painful or sarcastic. Or, they're having a difficult bowel movement.
Life is too serious to be taken seriously. Lol.

...very true, birdgal, I don't recall ever seeing Trump laugh....his little pea brain is going in circles thinking of a cover for the last lie he told.

I agree on all counts. Fearful, always unhappy....MAYBE it's that little gnawing feeling inside, when they suspect they've been deceived(by fake media), but to admit that even to
themselves is too much for their fragile egos to bear. That's why they ALWAYS want to talk politics, they need validation from others, reassurance that they are not myopic and gullible.

Megan McCain is a good example. She is the only Conservative/Republican on The View.
She always looks either mad or sad. She hardly ever smiles and when she does it looks forced. I liked her dad. He was real, down to earth, a true hero, a man of honor and integrity. He had a great smile too.
The other women on the show are fun and thoughtful. Their smiles are genuine and their eyes are sincere. Megan looks afraid, suspicious, and worried all the time. Sad too.
She is a brave woman to be the only Republican there. If you didn't know any of the other women and saw the show for the first time, by what I posted you'd pick her out right away.

I am proud to say I'm a LIBERAL. I always viewed myself as being a moderate, a middle-of-the-road person, either a conservative democrat or moderate republican. With the political realm being so hostile and extreme these days, all these labels have become obsolete.
I believe in the Constitution I believe in equal protection under the law I believe in using resources for all, not just the wealthy
....I guess I'm just a liberal.

In Australia the conservatives call themselves the Liberal Party. It must be confusing to the rest of the English speaking world.
The party representing rural interests styles itself the National Party and have no hope of every forming government but they enter into permanent coalition with the 'Liberals' to overwhelm the Labor Party that began as the workers' party.

The UK has a Liberal Democrat party which sounds good, but is actually close to the Tory/Conservative party. So I can't tell people I'm liberal because they assume Lib Dem. Also the colours are opposite of the US. In the UK red is Labour and blue is conservative.

Warrigal , sorry, that's a bit confusing. That's how we can tell the Aussies from the foreigners. Local Knowledge versus confused expressions. Same in Australia but we spell Labour as Labor for the party. No idea why.

My sis in law in Melbourne is often posting about the Labor party there.

I do not like labels, I believe in the institution of Goverment and that people need to get involved in Goverment. When people do not get involved in making Goverment work you get centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
