Why not? We're so easy to divide as represented by 2016. The idealists vote 3rd party because neither the Reps or the Dems are perfect or because it was not Bernie. And the lazy are easy to convince to stay home. Easy target.

Well said, Helen. Bravo! The Republicans stick together, keep their eye on the prize, and vote even if they have to hold their nose while voting.
Democrats are divided and welcome different opinions and ideas. That's fine. That's who we are. The only time it is NOT fine is when voting.
Some Dems have a problem voting because their guy/gal wasn't picked for the ticket. Not a good idea. A very bad idea. Very, very bad, dangerous, immature, and kind of stupid.

Because of the binary system the US has, you need to pick the Democrat or Republcan that best fits who you think is right person for the presidency.
The primaries are the place to vote for specialist candidates, but if your candidate does not win it is important to vote for the person that is closest to that you want.

I wanted Hillary. I voted for Obama. I have relatives that were Bernie babies and they did not vote.
I call them that because in my mind I had a picture of them holding their breath with their fingers in their ears and stomping their feet saying, "You can't make me vote so there!"
People can be exhausting. Lol.

Yes, that's exactly right but Democrats vote with their hearts, not with their brains. Which might work out well for Biden. If Biden ads would put more emphasis on Joe's tragic personal life, maybe sympathy can get him more supporters. Whatever works. I am so ready to depose Trump but if 1 in 3 Americans still think he is doing a good job, what do I know. Some days, I would almost be happy if he would just stop making a fool of himself in public.

Not to be arguing the point, but I just don't see that the Democrats are divided like 2016. I think Democrats are very united.....the continuous ridiculous insane antics of Donald Trump and the GOP that uphold those antics have done more to Unite not only Democrats but a big number of astute Republicans, I think that the insanity will continue but I also think there are enough intelligent people that will recognise and stand up to Trump, his base and the Russian interference to win...... but then I may be looking through my rose colored glasses...again.
