George Noory on Coast to Coast brings this up every night on his program.
From Jan of this year to Now: Estimates of 7000 deaths from the C.V. flu.
From Jan of this year to Now: Estimates of 140,000-150,000 from the Seasonal flu.
I'm not making light of any of this for a moment, but as Noory says "put this all into perspective".. He says he will bring this up every night on this show. I no have links but they can probably be found with these estimate figures.

This clearly explains why coronavirus is not just the flu. I stole this from another post.
Feeling confused as to why Coronavirus is a bigger deal than Seasonal flu? Here it is in a nutshell. I hope this helps. Feel free to share this to others who don’t understand...
It has to do with RNA sequencing.... I.e. genetics.
Seasonal flu is an “all human virus”. The DNA/RNA chains that make up the virus are recognized by the human immune system. This means that your body has some immunity to it before it comes around each year... you get immunity two ways...through exposure to a virus, or by getting a flu shot.
Novel viruses, come from animals.... the WHO tracks novel viruses in animals, (sometimes for years watching for mutations). Usually these viruses only transfer from animal to animal (pigs in the case of H1N1) (birds in the case of the Spanish flu). But once, one of these animal viruses mutates, and starts to transfer from animals to humans... then it’s a problem, Why? Because we have no natural or acquired immunity.. the RNA sequencing of the genes inside the virus isn’t human, and the human immune system doesn’t recognize it so, we can’t fight it off.
Now.... sometimes, the mutation only allows transfer from animal to human, for years it’s only transmission is from an infected animal to a human before it finally mutates so that it can now transfer human to human... once that happens..we have a new contagion phase. And depending on the fashion of this new mutation, thats what decides how contagious, or how deadly it’s gonna be..
H1N1 was deadly....but it did not mutate in a way that was as deadly as the Spanish flu. It’s RNA was slower to mutate and it attacked its host differently, too.
Fast forward.
Now, here comes this Coronavirus... it existed in animals only, for nobody knows how long...but one day, at an animal market, in Wuhan China, in December 2019, it mutated and made the jump from animal to people. At first, only animals could give it to a person... But here is the scary part.... in just TWO WEEKS it mutated again and gained the ability to jump from human to human. Scientists call this quick ability, “slippery”
This Coronavirus, not being in any form a “human” virus (whereas we would all have some natural or acquired immunity). Took off like a rocket. And this was because, Humans have no known immunity...doctors have no known medicines for it.
And it just so happens that this particular mutated animal virus, changed itself in such a way the way that it causes great damage to human lungs..
That’s why Coronavirus is different from seasonal flu, or H1N1 or any other type of influenza.... this one is slippery AF. And it’s a lung eater...And, it’s already mutated AGAIN, so that we now have two strains to deal with, strain s, and strain L....which makes it twice as hard to develop a vaccine.
We really have no tools in our shed, with this. History has shown that fast and immediate closings of public places has helped in the past pandemics. Philadelphia and Baltimore were reluctant to close events in 1918 and they were the hardest hit in the US during the Spanish Flu.
Factoid: Henry VIII stayed in his room and allowed no one near him, till the Black Plague passed...(honestly...I understand him so much better now). Just like us, he had no tools in his shed, except social isolation...
And let me end by saying....right now it’s hitting older folks harder... but this genome is so slippery...if it mutates again (and it will). Who is to say, what it will do next.
Be smart folks... acting like you’re unafraid is so not sexy right now.
#flattenthecurve. Stay home folks... and share this to those that just are not catching on. 🤓

This is the same show that is about paranormal activities, aliens, UFO's, and conspiracy theories correct?
Comparing the 'Flu' to another disease is like comparing ... I don't know.. a bicycle to a car? Both are modes of transport but the similarities end there.
The regular flu doesn't cause Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome which there is NO treatment for at all. It is not pneumonia and the only way to survive it is a ventilator.
There is NO medical treatment for Coronavirus. None.
I'm going to be gentle here, thanks for the conversation and getting me to read more about the COVID-19 which scares the heck out of me. I am going to Shelter IN Place just like cities are demanding their citizens to do.

The media keeps people scared to death and in a state of constant stress, which only adds to the immune system strength. We don't need to be told daily how many are infected, how many died in this country etc...that's my opinion and a lot of others who discuss the stress aspect of it all. We know so much as we're bombarded all day with CV stuff ..
Meditate, give thanks and help others as best we can and do the best for ourselves.

IF the media didn't keep telling us to be scared VERY scared, some won't listen. Stress is hard on the immune system ... yes it is. Look at those ding dongs who went to Florida, ignoring the warnings. Yes we do need to know where the virus is spreading. Two to three confirmed cases in the county to the west. Today is my last outing if the veterinarian is still open. Ordering dog food and powdered milk on line. Lined up hubby's meds and cancelled appts at the VA. We won't even go in for hubby's bone scan which was ordered by an oncologist. My place to walk away and settle down is in the nearly 1000 acres of land that surrounds us. We are calm. But informed and frightened.

Anyone who isn't a bit frightened is an absolute fool. One can be frightened and still remain calm.

One can be frightened and still remain calm. After having a social group for nearly two years to see every morning, it has become very hard to remain Isolated. Hubby has so many medical issues, but is currently doing okay so we are going to Isolate. This virus is a ghost...I don't mind admitting that is does scare me. Thank goodness for the internet though which allows me to still converse with others.

The death rate is higher than for the flu, but still low. Not as high as they thought at first, now that more cases have been reported. As for no medical treatment -- well there aren't many treatments for viral diseases in general. Sure it's possible to be unlucky and get a severe case of it. Or to die, if you are in a risk group. But the great majority of us either won't get it, or will get a mild case. I am isolating only because everything I would have gone to has been cancelled. I would have gone to things involving small groups, and kept a distance. But no one I know is leaving the house, maybe because they haven't thought about the odds. Your chance of dying from this virus are probably much less than dying in a car accident. I am more afraid to go out in my car than I am of catching this.

A little fear is a good thing, if based on facts/truth, a useful instinct that is self-protective.
I'm in a vulnerable group due to age (76) and more than one serious underlying health condition, so I'm legitimately concerned. After a possible trip to a grocery store early tomorrow morning before they get busy, I'll only leave home if/when absolutely necessary. After that, I'll use the on-line grocery delivery service which I have found to be very reliable. As well, my son is willing to bring me anything if asked, although we have cancelled our usual month-end supper together for the end of March.
My apartment is quite spacious for one person, and I have a good-sized balcony for access to fresh air. These factors will keep me from feeling too 'boxed in'.
When I was in the lobby to pick up my mail this afternoon, two big guys were there and getting on one of the elevators together. I couldn't have kept the recommended distance from them in that situation, so I pretended I was waiting for someone, and got the next elevator. An excess of caution, but it's what I am most comfortable with under current circumstances. From now on, I'll only go down there for mail later in the evenings when there's little traffic coming and going.

I hear our two grocery stores are opening specifically for people 60 and over from 7 to 8am. There is nothing on line for us around here other than Amazon. My one worry is that the lines of shipping will get broken? Mail carriers get ill? Stay well. Most of my mail is junk mail except for my husband's meds. Oh and one bill, most all other bills are electronic. Stay well.
