People have been hoarding too. Shelves are empty everywhere of paper towels, TP, Kleenex, cleaning supplies, Clorox, soap, Hand sanitizer, pain relievers, bread, flour, sugar, yeast, milk, Pasta, rice, bacon, lunch meat, hot dogs, potatoes, lettuce, eggs, etc.
Spoke with a woman that works at Wendy's...she stated they had to take the napkins and put them behind the counter because customers were taking gobs of them. Also, customers are breaking the TP holders and stealing the TP and taking that too.

Schools closed, including the University
Graduation exercises already cancelled for the University
A few churches cancelled services last weekend, and expect more as we go forward
Annual "drunkfest"... Faux Patty's Day set for this coming weekend cancelled
Restrictions for visitors at hospital, nursing homes, etc.
Many local restaurants locking doors and offering drive thru or curbside service
Library closed
Police Department asking that all requests for accident reports, etc. be done remotely. Discouraging walk-in business if you can handle it digitally.
Local grocery stores shelves empty. One of the elderly neighbors has been asking for orange Gatorade and some Clorox wipes. Closest Kroger opens at 6 a.m. I was there about 10 minutes before it opened this morning. Stopped counting cars in customer parking at 60. Probably 50 to 70 folks waiting in line when the doors opened at 6. Shelves still bare of many items, even though stockers had been working all night.
Have Board of Directors meeting, tonight, at the golf course. Main discussion will be what we do moving forward. Cancel upcoming tournaments? Complete shutdown?

The list is long here too. Closed:
Bars, restaurants, though ordering out is encouraged. Schools, all schools. I saw some retail places open. Chiropractic offices closed. Doors locked at the clinics to minimize entrances. Nursing Homes have been on lockdown for over a week already.
The parking spots on main street are empty.
Gyms... I guess most everything that is non essential.

Just about everything that is considered non-essential is shut down here at least for the next two weeks. There is speculation here that the shut down will last longer with the possibility of it extending to the end of April and possibly into May. Traveling to work this morning met with extraordinary light traffic for a Tuesday morning commute. It was eerily calm. The complex where my work building is housed is desolate and devoid of cars and people. Almost all of the businesses there and surrounding it are shut down and a once busy and bustling destination is all but deserted.

My gym is not shut. 2 of the doctors offices are shut but mine is still open so far. It doesn't look like Scotland is shutting businesses yet. Even my London concert in early April hasn't cancelled yet. 2700 people in once place is not a good idea.
I think things will change rapidly here though.

I'm braving the supermarket again today. Husband will be back and he's our cook. I think he'll make a lot of curries and we'll freeze them. Already have a big stock of veggie chili he made before his trip. Maybe get extra beer?!

Yesterday afternoon, Governor ordered all schools to close for the remainder of the school year.
Board meeting, yesterday, at the golf course to decide what to do. Nine of us Board members plus staff saw 14 in attendance. Tables spread out over the entire basement so no one person was closer than six feet to another. All scheduled tournaments either cancelled or postponed. Those involve between 70 and 125 people there was hardly any discussion. Everyone agreed those should not be held. Short term, we will remain open for play. Snack bar will be shut down. We have a sliding window near the snack bar and will continue to sell bottled water, soda, etc. through the window. Promoting making tee times and paying on line so all you have to do is check in through the window. Began late last week wiping down all carts between use, sanitizing everything from door handles to outside deck furniture. Staff had checked with a half dozen other local courses. All ball washers will be removed. Those require a player to 'hands on' pump or spin and could cause potential contamination. Removing all flag sticks. Don't want the possibility of contamination of flagsticks on the greens to see something passed from one person to another. Cups will be raised 1" to 1 1/2" above the surface of the green. If your ball hits the raised cup, count it. That way no one has to reach into a cup that someone else just contaminated. Covered lots of area. Bottom line, have the Board ready to convene in an emergency meeting on a moment's notice if anything legislative or locally changes with the COVID-19 issues.
I was worried about my cart partner and didn't want to ride with him. He and his wife attend mass 7 days/week. He said, yesterday, they would continue to go as they felt that their religious obligation. Well, yesterday afternoon, the Bishop orders all masses and church meetings cancelled until further notice. Our church folks met last night to make an decision and I haven't heard the outcome of that, yet.
American Legion closed. My, my! What will the little old ladies do about their daily Bingo?? :>)
Local funeral home setting up equipment to allow remote viewing of funeral services so people can "attend" from home.
Seems everything changes hour by hour.

Local funeral home setting up equipment to allow remote viewing of funeral services so people can "attend" from home. I was just wondering about that aspect of things. Last night my DIL called to tell her dad that she'd gone to a funeral of some relative....she is a funeral going person, I swear she makes all of them. Her dad asked her why she didn't stay home. She said her family wouldn't get the 'virus' and even though her husband had a cold he was going to work because ... well, they were sure they would not get anything. Their church is demanding that they come to service, their pastor sure that they are protected by the Big Guy. The church said they would defy the orders of no more than 10 people. Hmm. In our state that is now a $250 per person fine. Anyway what happens to those people who die of Coronavirus? Are their bodies handled differently? And yesterday afternoon most of the small places to eat in town shut their doors.

Local funeral home setting up equipment to allow remote viewing of funeral services so people can "attend" from home. Now that really states the seriousness of this....I too have wondered about funerals. Our school has shut down, they're having a meeting today to decide how long. I talk to my children/grandchildren everyday to touch base with how they are coping and I try not to burden them with how really concerned I am....everyone stay safe.
