The new year has barely dawned and they are posting fast. Seems with over 300 days left, many actually believe they will be last. Few football teams score a touchdown on the first play of the game And those posting now need to understand, with this competition, it's the same!
So much typing and posting of rhymes and prose to be will be seen this year. Until 2021 dawns, who wins this contest won't become clear. I do have some advice, though, for my friends who enjoy posting on this thread. My goal for 2020 is to keep telling my rhyming stories and get in your head!
I am disappointed in the outcome of this contest in twenty-nineteen! That I was not named the winner, on behalf of some here, was not very keen! I brought you guys along... I trained you to play so well... Yes, ME! Just because I fell asleep early was not grounds for me losing the trophy!
I am so kind hearted, generous to a fault, the most gentrified soul you will ever meet. Everyone of you "lessors" should acknowledge my omnipotence and bow at my feet! Why, just having me posting here for all shout be a treat! Ladies shout curtsy if, by chance, they met me on the street!
Just think of the damage you all will do to your fingers while typing on this thread. Just think of the emotional damage having to come up with new posts will do to your head! As my every thought... my hope and wish for 2020... is to see no harm come to my friends on this board. Wouldn't it be healthier for all your minds and bodies to... TODAY... me the 2020 trophy award????
My superiority is so evident, it is difficult to understand why you cannot see The importance to move forward with awarding the trophy to me!! If you do insist on extending this contest all the way to 2020's year end There is no question that I will be first to post last and to me the trophy you will send!!!!

I'm way out in Eastern Canada...does that make me Last? Does that make you a Canuck formerlyme? when i lived in Maine we went to Canada. (Quebec Winter Carnival) the town looked like Paris France, it was beautiful.!! When i went to Canada it was such fun the building were painted with by someone with beautiful artwork , was certainly not painted by just any ole someone.. The carved out ice sculpters lit with lighting of all colors was the most beautiful than that of all others. The people were so full of song and dance by the fires they entertained us for hours and hours... the food so good even tho it was cold out , we warmed up Quickly by dancing all about .. Also the horse drawn sleigh ride was the very best we kinda felt like we were maybe out west! and i recall telling the driver this is the best place in Canada. Ever!! well its time for me to go i want to be the Last one here, Ya Know!!!!

Yes, @weezer, I am indeed a Canuck, born and bred. I've never been to the Quebec Winter Carnival, as I live some distance further east than Quebec Province. It sounds spectacular, and I'm glad you had a super time there!
Pssst...as of this moment, I am Last. Of course, I know this moment will pass and I'll have to claim Last spot again. Such a fun game that causes no pain.

I should relent and let formerlyme be last more than an hour. She wants the rest of us to give her the win... to cower In a corner and not our rhymes and prose to post So she will be the one the trophy to host.
Dusty and weezer will soon chime in still crowing from their win a couple days ago. They'll strut around like they're ten feet tall and put on quite a show. In the meantime I'm comfortable in the old recliner chair Just having to let them all know the old man is still posting with a flair.
I posted this morning and was trying to do so no more than once each day. Just can't let these ladies think I'm going to let them have their way! So, even though past my bedtime... tired... worn out... stressed... my typing fingers tired It is my duty to post again, today, since I am the gentleman and am so admired!!!
Now, I keep telling the competitors their attempts to post last is in vain. And, the way I stretch the truth in my rhymes, they probably think me insane. That's okay. Let them think I've gone mad and need to be under a doctor's care. They'll blink, thinking they have put one over on me, and suddenly I'll be posting there.
As I sit here with 'Classic Country' music playing on the television set The evening is quiet, the dog disappeared. She's beat me to bed, I bet. It's time that I follow her for tomorrow will be a stressful day As I make sure I'm first to post last and wait for one of the ladies this game to play.

Just want to add, it all was a lot of fun , but we also missed everyone, all talk and no show , is how the old saying goes.. but none the less, I think Dusty and i did our very best..
I wanted to post one of my Grand-father's poems from 1950 ONLY YESTERDAY -BY Robert E. Fauchier
It only seemed like yesterday When we were kids at play, We longed for time to hurry on, So we could live today.
It seemed today would never come, The time would pass so slow, But now, that it has come and gone We asked "where did it go?".
It only seemed like yesterday How fast the time goes by To-day has come,we're old and grey, And soon we'll say "Good Bye"
Let each of us then try and do Some real good, every day. Use all those precious moments now, Before they slip away.

An excellent adage, I must say "... do some real good every day"! Would be so much better to be remembered as just honorable and kind Than to have been rich and famous, but with an evil mind.
We can always plan on being kind tomorrow... or the next day While in the meantime on the less fortunate we do prey. Not one person on this Earth, I fear Is promised that tomorrow they will be here.
Now I must admit there are those days when inadvertently I might cause pain and fear. Sometimes I might scare someone into thinking the end is near. Certain times of the year one green on our golf course has lots of geese hanging out there. They just walk around, dropping poop, acting like they don't have a care.
The numbers are most generally from twenty to thirty and they can make a mess But, this one day earlier this week the number had to be at least fifty, I must confess. The entire green, and even the approach, was covered with the feathered trespassers eating grass. As we drove to the tee box, some comments were said... some extremely crass.
I was first on the tee box, since I had won the hole just before. Now would those geese covering the green result in me posting a bad score? The ball was dropped on the tee and, with my 8-iron I took dead aim at the flag on the green. The ball sailed high, the arc beautiful... a perfect shot as seldom is seen.
Kerplunk! The ball landed right on one of the geese's back and disappeared into the flock. I'm sure that poor goose who was hit, certainly must have been left in shock. He didn't appear hurt, though, as with a flurry of wings off the entire flock did fly. Low and behold, right next to the pin my poop covered ball did lie.
As we went to the next hole, done playing the one that had been sanctuary to the migrating group I had made my birdie putt and all our golf balls had been wiped clean of bird poop. My attempt to convince the playing partners they owed me double as my birdie they did extol. One birdie was scored by hitting the goose. The other when my birdie putt disappeared in the hole!
Now I know that my assault of an innocent migrating fowl Would be considered by some as mean, and to me they would cry "Foul"! I apologized to the goose, as away he did fly Please let that be enough and I'm sorry if I caused him to cry.
I will do everything to make it up by doing at least one kind thing this day. It's just as the poem from weezer, such a good thing did say. We must do our best to be kind to others no matter the weather In numbers, the kind folks can make a difference... "birds of a feather sticking together"!
In the meantime, my kindness will be exemplified here in this thread You'll be so grateful when the following is said. Please take flight from this competition just like the bird... my feathered friend. I don't want your feelings hurt, when I am posting last as 2020 comes to an end!!!!

Excellent poetry 2Old!!!.i respect your poetry. yes i do and if it was not for you , i would have missed this opportunity to have taken lessons from you!!
Well i never would of guessed the geese would settle on your golf course and make a big mess! unless there is a watering hole, then yes, they will swim then come to shore and leave their black Splatters and rolls everywhere!..
Me and Hubby walk dogs at a beautiful animal shelter. this is a high end shelter with lots of paved pathways to take the dogs miles around and about their woods and also a beautiful pond with a beautiful fountain in the middle that shoots high up into the sky..
Well im sure you know what im about to share here, yes, the Canadian geese are everywhere! Well knowing you have a precious little dog Dogs love to roll in their stinking black blobs!
they sniff , drop and roll! and even worse some dogs have been known to taste those little black logs, How gross!!
Those birds come from Canada when winter begins going south to warmer weather ....then come back in the spring and do it all over again!
Well now that 2019 is over. and 2020 is the new year Get ready for the first person from coast to coast to boast his or her VERY LAST POST!!

Ever had a day when things go bad? Ever had a day when you're grouchy and a little mad? Everything was going good till middle of the day. That's when my smile went the other way!
My darling wife had a load of laundry in the washing machine. If you didn't know, the washer is designed to get the clothes nice and clean. She headed off to do some shopping at the grocery store Thinking we needed some vittles and a whole lot more.
When the washer signaled that the load of laundry was done I went to move it to the dryer, trying to please the one I call "Hon". One would think after all these years of doing laundry she would empty her pockets, totally. When I opened the washer lid, bits and pieces of Kleenex was all I could see!
Yes, the lady of my life had a pocket full of tissue she does now confess. Wow! When that many tissues are in a washing machine they make quite a mess! Of course she was still at the store when I found the laundry splotched with white So into the dryer I tossed them, hoping when the dryer finished the clothes would be all right.
Every piece of clothing came out of the dryer devoid of any white Except for one of my sweats that it all collected on. You should have seen the site! Yes, every item of hers... the culprit... was perfect I must admit. And one item of mine collected every bit of it!
Well, maybe not all, for the dryer filter was covered in white. That was much easier to clean than my black sweats... now quite a site. When she returned from the store and I told her of the incident She smiled and began laughing and a message was quietly sent.
You see, I'm not perfect and sometimes she needs to remind me of the fact that is so. Over the years I've probably left something in one of my pockets she has cleaned up, don't you know! All I could do was admit that I'm not so innocent to get upset at a shredded Kleenex in the laundry So I jumped in to help her put the groceries away so she wouldn't be mad at me.
Like misunderstandings can happen between family member, neighbors, or someone and their friend. Why can't people discuss and work through those things instead of refusing to even bend? Some of us, though, find an important issue where we simply must take a stand. For me that is my winning the first to post last competition and the trophy I will demand!
