If Trump is smart and forward thinking, he will make sure that Mike Pence gets to be president for a short while.
Who remembers how Richard Nixon avoided prosecution? He was pardoned by Gerald Ford who became president upon Nixon's resignation. Ford (R) had been Speaker of the House and became V.P. at the resignation of Spiro Agnew who was elected as Nixon's V.P. but was forced to resign due to criminal activities and threat of prison. Voter backlash over this was thought to be the cause of Ford's loss to democrat Jimmy Carter in 1976.
But would Pence pardon Trump?
Would Trump resign just to keep his own a$$ out of U.S. prison?
At the time, it was assumed that Nixon only resigned because he was promised a pardon. Or did he leave as a patriot as he indicated in his resignation speech?
“I have never been a quitter. To leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body. But as president, I must put the interest of America first.”
Ahhh, doncha just love history.
Interesting historical side note: Gerald Ford was the only person to serve as both president and vice president without ever being elected to either office.

I agree. I think Ford was a decent, honorable man that circumstance put into a bad position. He probably would have made a decent president. I think Trump ran for office for one reason - looking for more name recognition. He never wanted to win, never thought he would win, didn't know what to do after he won and has wished fervently each day since that he had not. Double that with his family. They had great lives, good reputations, thriving businesses. Now what.

I liked Gerald Ford. He came from my state of Michigan.
I think Trump ran for a lark. It looked like fun to him to campaign and bash other candidates. I don't believe he wanted to win. He certainly didn't expect to. He was looking forward to screaming about a rigged election if he lost. He didn't even have an acceptance speech prepared.

I'm pretty sure he could pardon him for what he did while president but he would not have pardon power for anything done in N.Y. state where his business headquarters is but statute of limitations may help him there.

Pence knew what was going on. Apparently he and Kellyanne told Trump not to release notes of the phone call. And Trump said Pence had 2 phone calls to Ukraine and he should be asked about those. Under bus.

If Trump was smart, he would have never run for President. But he did,,,,,, as a joke not actually thinking he would win. He just played the game too well. Tell the people what they want to hear, win. Tell the people the truth, lose.

Under bus. Exactly, right under the bus. But that's where minions belong and everyone is a minion to Trump (in his mind, that is)

Our only recourse is investigate, publicize, prosecute and VOTE. Assassinations not allowed.

When people say thrown under the bus it's simply and expression. It's kinder and gentler than saying you've been screwed, lied to, cheated, used, etc. It doesn't have a d*mn thing to do with murder.
However, in the case of the evil thing slithering around The Peoples House, if it were literal, (my dear old Mom would say the word "if"is the Biggest word in the dictionary,) I could probably look away for a little bit or close my eyes. 😣😋😏😔

If Trump is smart, he will go into hiding and stay gone until the statute of limitations for every crime he's committed expires. How long would he have be gone before anybody realizes he won't be coming back? Pence can pretend to be president without being able to appoint a VP. How would that impact the 2020 election?
