2Old, your nice young man is delusional. Religion can do that to people.
He probably believes in a virgin birth, a guy was dead for 3 days and came back to life, the earth was created in 7 days, and another guy made a man out of dust and a woman from the guys rib.
This nice young man probably also does NOT believe in Climate change, and me and my spouse, who have been together over 30 years, are spawns of Satan.
I don't know this nice young man but from what you posted about him, he's not very nice IMHO. He's dangerous!

Being Press Secretary has to be one of the hardest jobs in the US. www.carrollcountytimes.com/opinion/cc-op-minnich-20180801-story.htmlCommentary Minnich: Sarah Huckabee Sanders has toughest job in D.C. Dean Minnich We watched the Conway lady lose her credibility faster than an exotic dancer sheds her duds, and we squirmed as Sean What’s His Name stammered in frustration tilting with the D.C. news media. But even the most partisan of us have to give some grudging respect for the sheer grit that Sarah Huckabee Sanders brings to the podium during White House press briefings. For starters, she has a job that most self-respecting journalists would shun. Really, it would be better to walk at intersections carrying a hand-made sign asking for handouts for a homeless drug user than to be a flack for President Donald Trump. “Flack” may be an old-fashioned term for press secretary, publicity director, press agent, whatever title is assigned the hired hand whose job it is to write and deliver press releases designed to make the boss look good.

Don't forget Christian Evangicals who claim to believe this lying, cheating, sexual perverted, nasty, cruel, unqualified Richie rich, is chosen by God to usher in a new heaven and earth. First this Earth has to be destroyed. Who better to do that than the lunatic in the WH? Have a nice young man who I've played golf with for years. I knew he leaned hard conservative, but we don't talk politics on the golf course. He took a day off work this week to play. One of the older guys just had to "poke the bear". Brought up Trump. After they bantered and I suggested we play golf and not try to claw each other's eyes out over politics... he made one last statement. "President Trump is the first president in American history to listen to and honor the clergy like he does. If he gets to stay in the White House, maybe we will get back to reciting the Lord's Prayer before class and reading the Bible in school." I just had to shake my head. How can someone be so blinded to not see the person who has probably broken 11 of the 10 commandments... many on a daily basis... as doing much more damage than good for religious conservatism?

2Old, your nice young man is delusional. Religion can do that to people. He probably believes in a virgin birth, a guy was dead for 3 days and came back to life, the earth was created in 7 days, and another guy made a man out of dust and a woman from the guys rib. This nice young man probably also does NOT believe in Climate change, and me and my spouse, who have been together over 30 years, are spawns of Satan. I don't know this nice young man but from what you posted about him, he's not very nice IMHO. He's dangerous! I will make an attempt to explain my feelings. Hopefully, I can use the correct words. I was born and raised in a very conservative evangelical home. From early childhood, I was destined to become a pastor in the church. From high school, I went directly to a theological college. My second year, there, I pastored a small church on weekends. And... my mind just had difficulty wrapping itself around what I had chosen as my career. I asked questions. Dinosaurs??? Seven day creation??? Noah's ark??? Jonah??? Some of this just didn't make sense. What was I supposed to take literally and what was I supposed to take as somehow convoluted through centuries of translations and mouth to mouth story telling? What was I supposed to "cherry pick" as "law" and what was I supposed to disregard? Why was the emphasis on sales... getting more money in the offering plate to build bigger churches to get more money in the offering plate to build bigger churches to get …. What about Native Americans who worshipped a "sun god"? What about the people in African jungles who had no knowledge of biblical teachings? What about the people of India, China, etc. who had deep beliefs handed down generation after generation? Were all these people "evil"? Were all these people doomed to some "fire and brimstone" eternity while just the few of us were not? Too much didn't make sense. While asking these questions and receiving disdain for asking them, I met a beautiful girl I fell deeply in love with. She was of the Lutheran faith. Oh, my! My grandmother was so angry when I brought her home to meet the family! Her family had a different interpretation of baptism and grace and …. I could NOT marry such a heretic!! (And, we've been married almost 53 years.) Over my lifetime I have made many mistakes. What I have ended up "believing" is that I will not hate people for the beliefs they have... as long as they do not attempt to impose those beliefs on me. I will show respect and love for people regardless of color or sexual orientation or where they were born or which church they choose to worship in … as long as they show respect to my family and me. I have found so many good people who do not walk the "straight and narrow" evangelical path. I have seen and heard so many people who do that live a life filled with hate towards those good people. I believe churches should be paying their fair share of taxes. I do not believe it is "God's intent" that pastors should become multi-millionaires, live in mansions, and own fancy cars and airplanes... while people are starving to death. I do not believe a cent paid to a church should be handed to a politician in an effort to impose his/her beliefs on me through legislation. As far as my own life, I will make every attempt to live a moral life. I fall short of that, but will continue trying to do so until they put me in the ground. I do not believe we are just like flowers or animals. When we die, our body as we know it rots away. There is some reason we are here. Is there a supreme being that harvests something we cannot define from each human during our lifetime? Is there some component of our being that does take flight to another world? I don't know. I'm not going to try to find that answer in my lifetime. I will just hope that my family and my acquaintances will remember me as an honest person with integrity and who showed respect for his fellow man. Some will never suggest that, since I respect one's freedom to love who they love... to be considered equal no matter the color of their skin... to be guaranteed food, shelter, proper medical care, etc. no matter who they are. Sorry for the length. Just a synopsis of where I come from.

In response to Sarah Sanders (right) saying she hoped to be remembered as 'transparent and honest,' Stormy Daniels (left) tweeted: 'And I hope to be remembered for being a virgin **eyeroll**.' The tweet was liked more than 242,000 times and was shared more than 36,000 times. It also received more than 4,300 comments, most of which were supportive of Daniels. On Thursday, Trump announced in a tweet that Sanders would be stepping down at the end of the month.
Stormy being remembered for being a virgin **eyeroll** is 100 times more likely then Sanders being remembered as "honest" maybe transparently lying.

2Old, hard to read your story, paragraph breaks would be great.
Many of us have similar stories from other religions and when I think of having to walk away from nice boys who were not catholic, I can kick something. But the brainwashing is so deep and I married a nice catholic boy who eventually left me for a nice 2 times divorced other ethnic woman. But I don't know if I really ever loved him, I escaped from my house to him.
My dad and mom lasted for 63 yr of marriage and they were pretty mismatched.
We have gone astray from Sanders...

I was brought up catholic mostly but my parents and church were so afraid of sex. Missed some of the brainwashing. Just kind-of thought God did not have anything to do with sex. Made up my own rules, that did not work to well, you live and learn : )

The big troubles comes with how nature made us and how religion trying to force us to think and act.
Nature is not evil, it's just trying to keep the human race going. We need to balance our needs
with the needs of others and the needs of human race.
Religion is just trying to keep religion going.

Not really, but if the president lies all the time like tramp, It would be hard for a moral people to stand there day in and day out in support of their lying. A moral person would quit.

The general trouble with the devout is the ends justify the means. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good and as a trophy wife it's most of her job. Michelle had a life.
