and most nights I get a good 9 hrs of dreamy sleep That would be most welcome, I rarely get over 5 hours of straight sleep, although I frequently pick up another hour or two, after the first wake-up. Thanks for the information, I shall be considering the supplements mentioned. I do have B-6 on hand, but am taking a B complex at the moment. What strength / dose would be typical for the L Tryptophan? Melatonin and me are good friends, I should get some more, is one of the very few supplements I've bought that have a noticeable affect. If you are going to take L-tryptophan, make sure what you take is made in the US. A number of years ago some of the L-tryptophan coming into the US from Japan and China was contaminated with very bad stuff due to unsafe and unsanitary manufacturing processes, and it caused a lot of damage to a lot of people (including paralysis and death). I worked for one of the law firms in the multi-district litigation of those cases and the facts were horrifying. To this day, I cannot even think of taking supplements produced in those countries.

It was a bad batch and it's true a long time ago. So many of the supps that people buy in the drug stores, walmarts, costcos are mostly likely produced in China.

So I was reading an article about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Psychology Today, and got sidetracked by a link to another topic:
An excerpt:
Interesting, sure helps to put the mind at ease, and give some perspective.
I'll get back to the Cognitive-behavioral therapy later, although it's a pretty basic introduction that I've read on elsewhere, just refreshing on. I am actually considering making an appointment with a behavioral health practitioner with my healthcare provider, and request CBT training. I would like to have better tools, not only to deal with my own challenges, but to aid my daughter in her effort to secure her inner peace.

That's how I spent the night. It was impossible. When it gets stressful, I stop sleeping. Then I realize that I have to try harder and get more rest. Thank you for writing this post, it's important.

I find that working out sometime between dinner & bedtime helps my sleep. Also, lying in bed while doing a (visualizing or guided) meditation helps.
