I really resisted the computer and worked for Hitachi back in the 80's and even went to Silicon Valley on a transfer with them from So. Cal. But I was in my 50's and just struggled, loved my old life.
I never bought a cell phone, smartphone, ipad etc etc etc....so no apps after app after app.
There were times when I could have used a cell phone but made it and here I am still don't have one. One great land phone and I hardly talk on phone, wears me out and all the robot calls omg.
Just today I heard a segment on all the apps to do this budget, do that budget etc etc...back in the old days I knew what I needed to be paid and that's how it was...what was left was fun money. Today an app for your liquor budget, omg. The really GOT THE PEOPLE hooked and addicted.

Technology is both a blessing and a curse.... I don't use my phone except *gasp* when I need to call...... I am not allowed to take my phone into work because of security so I don't use it 98% of the day... I rarely text... I don't use half the apps on my iPhone....I don't belong to Facebook nor Twitter.... I guess I am an anomaly these days

For a younger person you do sound rare, good for you.
When I've heard that people actually sleep with their phones under pillow etc, I almost gagged...talk about addictions.

Ziyi is pretty much the same... she doesn't have Facebook nor Twitter and isn't stuck looking at her phone all day... she uses the calendar for meetings and Siri (in Mandarin! ) for appointments and text only when she gets a text....

I have a cell phone. It usually is in my pocket. Only thing I use it for while at work is for the calculator. Most times when I go out I forget it in my room on the charger... In these day's most have their cell phones glued to their hips. Me? if I remember it when I get in my car, I just leave it in my room. As far as facebook, I do have an account, but I only visit once in a while,,,, I don't write anything, just read what others do every moment of every day. IE,, when the last time they peed, ate, pooped,, etc.... As far as twitter,,,, I had an account there years ago,, then after making an account thought,, what for,,, I don't know anyone, and no one knows me.

I don't 'cling' to my cell phone like many younger people do, I rarely have a voice conversation on it.<gasp>
Texting is handy for sending short messages without getting bogged down in conversation.
Access to the internet while out & about(search for business services, etc) is a big plus.
I use a couple [free] fitness apps that are extremely useful.
Navigation! Going to see my son in L.A. or my brother in Las Vegas would be horrible without the Google Maps navigation tool. Thomas guide is
extinct now folks.
With computing an tech being my hobby- I appreciate the cell phone for being the computer that it is.

I'm not on FB or Twitter either. I do have a cell phone. I won't leave home without it. If I'm waiting for someone or sitting in my doctors office instead of watching politics on their TV or listening to noise, I mean music, I can be in this chat room instead. That's a real good thing. lol.

I have a cell phone but not an I Phone. Use it just to text or if I need to make a call. It’s not a flip phone either!

I don't have a smart phone or cell phone of any kind. I don't belong to Facebook, Twitter or any other social media sites. I use email for contact with people I know personally in the 'real world' or do business with. I like discussion forums (especially this one); that satisfies my need for social connection with the 'outside world'. I've met some mighty nice people here and on other (now defunct) forums. I love my computer, and would be lost without it. I shop a lot online (amazon.ca, Ebay, etc.) and find it very convenient. I like playing games on the computer (Scrabble, etc.) and researching things I have an interest in. Access to music and videos is a big plus, too.
Pay phones are getting hard to find. If/When Walmart and the grocery stores I frequent no longer have them, I may have to get a basic cell phone (flip phone?) for calling taxis to get me home. I have a reliable land line at home.
