Aww. He must be so disappointed. That does hurt. I'm so sorry. I wouldn't tell him this right now, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. There could be something even better out there for him. I know that doesn't take away the hurt right now.
He sounds like a very talented young man. That place didn't deserve him! He will find something better. Much better. It's their loss. Not his.
Hugs for him! Hugs for you too.

Tomorrow hubby will end his employment after he finishes his shift. They are down to 2 CNC operators and have been working the both of them to death. 84 hours per week...enoughs, enough!
Company is having issues with new hires. They either can't pass the drug test or only last a day and quit. Most of the other CNC operators found new jobs and left within the past 2 weeks.
He has applications to fill out for other company's that are hiring, but I sure would like him to take time off from working. Well see....

Drifter, I agree that your hubby deserves & should take a good break from the workaday grind before seeking a new job.

I hope he takes time off too. Just to hang out, sleep late, enjoy his home and the people in his life. Spending time with the people and things he worked for would be nice. Even God took a day off! 84 hours a week? What the Hell? When I worked for the phone company we belonged to a union. Have unions gone the way of the dinosaur? It sounds more like slavery than a job. These giant corporations are out of control now. They are too big. How did this happen? How did we let this happen? We don't have employers and employees anymore. We have BIG bosses and grateful slaves. When did the American Dream turn into a nightmare? This is not going to have a happy ending. People need to feed and house their families. They also need to spend time with them. People will be pushed too far and they will fight back. They will fight back angry and forceful. It will not be pretty.

Anymore, he felt like he was married to his job. Hey, at least when he was home, I didn't push him constantly to keep getting stuff done. 84 hours a week? What the Hell? When I worked for the phone company we belonged to a union. He is in a union! The union isn't what it once was. He pays the union dues and what does he get for it...jack sh$t. It's no wonder so many employees have left. There are so many jobs to be had right now, if he wants to go back to work, he'll have no problem finding another one. People need to feed and house their families. They also need to spend time with them. With working 84 hours per week, there is no time for family or friends. He's tired. Has things to get done around home before the snow flies. I do what I can so he doesn't have much to do because I know he's very tired. He appreciated it. But I'm getting tired too. lol Getting old sucks, ya know?! lol

He has applications to fill out for other company's that are hiring, but I sure would like him to take time off from working. Well see.... 1: After the medical issue scare he had not that long ago, 84 hour weeks are not the best idea. Driving the body beyond its limits is not a good idea!! 2. We don't want to believe our bodies change with age. It's frustrating to admit we are aging, but fact is fact. We want to keep aging! Working ourselves into a grave accomplishes nothing. 3. From your comments, it appears the job market is similar in your area as it is in most places across the Country. Skilled employees who will show up... show up on time... show up sober... show up and not fail a drug test are in great demand. Employees that don't come in late because they have to drop off kids at daycare, wait until Starbucks opens before they can go to work, spend time finishing a certain video game on their phone in the parking lot, etc., etc. should be valued in today's world of pathetic work ethic. If need be, he should be able to find someone much more appreciative of his talents. You guys deserve some "kick back" time!!! When he was going through chemo, etc. your "together time" was worrying about the next appointment, what the next scan would show, will weather cause travel issue to the medical facility. It wasn't just a good time to relax and enjoy some down time together... doing things you enjoy together. Yes, Ol' Man Winter is peeking around the corner, getting ready for his grand entrance. I certainly cannot make recommendations for other people. None of my business! Still, from what little I know you and your hubby will work it out for the best. You appear to have a strong and loving relationship that so many people dream of. Good luck in whatever path he takes going forward!!!!!

Words of wisdom 2old ! HR called our home Monday, trying to convince him to stay...pffft....no way! Sure, there aren't any CNC operators left. Two more left today, so there is only one left on 2nd shift. Now, they are making CNC operators on 1st and 3rd shifts to start 4 hours early and work 12 hour days. They won't last much longer either. Anyway...He's enjoyed his first week away from employment. Has been getting some jobs done around the home front, that he didn't have time to get to before. It's so nice to have him home once again.

Oldest granddaughter got her CNA while a junior in high school. Immediately went to work at one of our local nursing homes. As a teenager, had to learn to deal with death. She helped clean up those who passed before the mortuary arrived, etc. The first few were difficult, but she learned it was part of her career. She is the granddaughter who got her RN nurse pinning yesterday.
My wife's last uncle passed a few days ago. The granddaughter had helped care for him and went to the visitation with us. She commented this was the first "cold" body she could remember seeing. Said she almost didn't recognize him from his diminished body the last months vs. the excellent job the mortician did to have him as the family remembered.
Her younger sister went to work at the same nursing facility the very day she turned 16. Applied the week before her 16th birthday and they hired her on the spot. Now, at 16, she is also having to learn to deal with death. She is working in the dietary department so isn't as close, medically, as her older sister was. Has always like to bake/cook and wants to be a registered dietician. However, she is responsible for seeing the entire court she works on gets their food, eats their food, helps them eat, etc. So, she becomes intimately familiar and friendly with her residents.
I took her to work this morning. Picked her up since didn't want her mother or her driving in this mess. Many places around town closed due to the bad weather. She had already texted her supervisor, early, telling her she WOULD be in to work and hoped she would not be late. I got her there with 5 minutes to spare! She's on the phone with Grandma right now while on her break. Took breakfast in to on of her residents, this morning, who had passed minutes before. She summoned the floor nurse to handle the issue.
On one hand, we find it difficult to know these "youngsters" are having to deal with the passing of people they've become friends with at such an early age. Yet, it is a fact of life. We are proud of the girls and their dedication to caring for those who need their services. Both are making unbelievable wages at their age and getting a head start in much needed careers. Both will spend their careers as caregivers.

Random thought....
After watching the state of union last night, I've come to the conclusion that the GOPs rabid dogs need new shock collars. Every time they blurt out something ridiculously stupid, they need zapped. A muzzle wouldn't hurt them either.
