Hubby had lab work done last week and a visit with his oncologist yesterday morning. Everything is perfect, Danielle said. No issues found.
I commented on Danielle's new short haircut, telling her I liked it. She said she had no choice but to cut it short because she is now going through chemo for cancer and will eventually loose it all. We felt so bad to hear her news. She's only in her late 30's.
Also ran into an old friend coming out of the office that I haven't seen in decades. Denise is going through cancer treatment there.
Ben, a farmer we bought grain off of, lost his battle to cancer recently.
Kim, a beautician we know, also lost her battle to ovarian cancer.
My friend Shirley, moved to Michigan to live with her daughter, lost her battle to colon cancer.
So many people either going through treatment or dying of cancer. Sad.

If all the money tossed at college athletics could be used on medical research...
If all the billions pharmaceutical CEO's are paid could be moved to research and them paid a common sense amount...
If 20% of the world's military spending could be used for cancer research...
If congressional representatives could be compensated similarly to other government employees... and consider their time in office as service to the Country instead of a means of becoming millionaires...
Too many if's in a world bent on profits... high executive compensation... corruption... that won't do what is necessary to attack these deadly diseases. Sad...
Cancer??? It's not "if"... it's "when".

What a delightful surprise yesterday afternoon, to see an 8x8 bull elk at my salt block, just 50 yards from my back deck. Then, a grey fox strolled by.

That must have been a nice surprise. I'm glad you got to see them. A good way to start the day. A very good way.
I live in NYS on Long Island next to a state park. Our neighbors are deer, fox, birds, wild turkeys, box turtles, possum, raccoons, etc.
I enjoy sitting in the yard and watching the wildlife. The deer watch me right back. Lol.
They are great neighbors. ;)
Enjoy your neighbors!

They are great neighbors. ;) Enjoy your neighbors! LOL...yeah, aren't they?! And yes, I do enjoy those neighbors. They are a pleasant diversion outdoors. Coons should be bringing their youngin's in next month. Looking forward to seeing them. And the deer should be bringing their fawns in soon too. Mama feral cat #1 just brought her 3 kittens out...they are so cute and small. One in her litter is a calico.

The raccoons that live in the state park next to us brought her little ones last night. So cute. They ran when I threw them a snack. Momma stayed and had something though. I know I'm not doing them any favors. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a beautiful face. The faces on those little ones are too cute for words. Curious and fearful at the same time. We were so fortunate to find this house right next to the park. I enjoy the wildlife so much and all I have to do is walk out the door. I hope you and yours are all ok and are enjoying the day! Aww. That momma cat knew where to have her babies. New borns are so tiny. I was impressed when the feral Princess (she's fixed now) had her little ones lined up in a perfect row in one of the cat houses we have in the yard. All three of them now live with us. I enjoy chatting with you! :) Be Well! Pat aka Birdgal Oh, and their Mom Princess lives with us now too. She prefers to be outside when the weather is nice, but will come in the house and snuggle up with her baby boy Buttons, when it's not that nice. He is her favorite but the 2 girls don't mind they have us and our other cat, Blackie, who loves them. Lol.

I have exciting family news to share! My grandson (Christopher) graduated June 30th from Nova Scotia Community College's Technical Institute with a diploma in computer technology, and he already has a job! I'm beside myself with excitement for him! He starts today with a computer software development company called 'Modest Tree' with head office right here in Halifax. He will work remotely within a team setting, starting part-time for a 32-hour week @ $25. an hour. At the end of 6 months, he will likely promote to full time at a 40-hour week. His title for now is 'Junior Back End Developer'. What's nice is that there are 2 others on his team from his NSCC class, which will make for a very comfortable beginning in the position. This could not have turned out better for him!

Thank You so much, birdgal. I am indeed a proud grandmother. I never dreamed he'd get a job so quickly, the first one he applied for. It was his preference to be able to work remotely, so he was most fortunate to get this opportunity. He's a good guy who has worked exceedingly hard throughout all his educational years.

Thanks a lot, Drifter! He got hired after they put him through a few days of remote on-line exercises to test the level of his computer skills. So fortunate that he lucked into a job so soon after graduation.

He must be in excellent shape. Physically and mentally. I don't even want to take the garbage can to the curb in this heat. Or, bring the empty pails back.

Drifter, it's great to know your husband is fully recovered and able to handle such a heavy workload in the heat.

I'm very sad to report that my Grandson's job opportunity with a computer company fell through, and he is now busily applying for other jobs. My heart aches for him!
