Why would you spend the money for a college degree in a field that is either saturated or underpaid when you can learn a trade and make a good living without the education costs?

Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc. can make really good money...with benefits. Two or three generations have been told that without a college degree they won't amount to anything. They get college degrees, owe more than they'll ever get paid back and are lucky to find a job for $30,000/year. There are shortages in the medical field. Doctors, nurses, etc. They can make good money. School teachers are very underpaid. A degree in history, literature, etc. it's difficult to find placement.
Is college expensive in Australia or does the government assist in higher education?

The higher education debt is changing for the better via federal government intervention, however would you believe I don't fully understand it?

Do you think if civic responsibilities were concentrated on more in high school education curriculum people would be more interested in staying knowledgeable about their governments?

Would you believe in Australia many young people are totally disillusioned with the two major parties and their loyalities are to the Greens and independent members.
