This is a more familiar list of our words ruby nomadsworld.com/aussie-slang/Im going out shopping this Arvo gonna buy some grub ( food) ...will chuck it all in the BOOT of the car with maybe a slab of beer for hubby ( nah he doesn’t drink nor me ) so that’s off the shopping list so it’s only some grub on the list now However some states have different slang meanings ( I find that in Queensland ) ......I’m not sure what Victorians are referred to but joybelle could enlighten us. South Aussies are referred to as Crow eaters .....it’s said the Crow’s fly backwards in SA to keep, the dust outta their eyes here ...prob pretty true in Summer I’ll have to,take notice Won’t I Queenslanders are know as banana benders Oh Mr 2old the correct spelling for TYRES is just that ..not Tires

South Aussies are referred to as Crow eaters ..... Area along Interstate 70 in Missouri a farmer noticed lots of dead crows. He called the Missouri Department of Wildlife and they sent a crew out to investigate. Yes, there are lots of dead crows along the highway. Why? They couldn't figure it out. A prestigious university in Rolla, Missouri has an Ornithological Behaviorist (Bird Psychologist) on staff. He was called in. Took him about 24 hours to come up with an answer. All the crows were being hit/killed by trucks. None were being hit/killed by cars. Crows are scavengers. They eat roadkill on the highways. If you watch the murder of crows... "murder" is what you call a flock of crows... as they are pecking at the roadkill on the highway, there is always a single crow sitting on a nearby fence post as a lookout. Being a crow, when he sees a vehicle coming he can only scream "Caw! Caw! Caw!". He can't scream "Truck! Truck! Truck!" running-around-smiley-emoticon

Interesting 2old I’m not SA born / raised but a immigrant from New South Wales 500 km away, when I moved to SA in 1971 I was told there was NO Crows in SA ..,but but .......what was those black birds that I was familiar with in NSW ??? ....I was told but found it hard to believe that they wasn’t any crows here ( apart from hubby’s favourite football team called The crows ) Latter I was to find out they are actually Ravens ....in SA however I believe crows can be found in and around Port Augusta a very arid dry town about 4 - 5 hour drive for the city of Adelaide ..there is next to nothing in the way of towns to be found once you leave PA heading north towards Perth (Western Aust ) only farming community towns or truck stops across our great Nullarbor plains ( we’ve traveled that 3.000 km from PA to get to Perth three times ) PA is right on Highway One , Australia’s main highway ..which of course has many triple semi trailers traveling transporting stock and all sorts of goods around Australia so lots of road kill for the crows / foxes / Copied from net ****** Ravens aren't crows Did you know the big black birds you see around Adelaide are actually ravens? There are crows in South Australia, but you’ll generally only find them north of Port Augusta. So how can you tell them apart? Australian ravens – one of the most commonly spotted species in Adelaide – are bigger than crows and have hackles on their backs and a ruff of feathers on their neck.

Trucks have horns just like cars, right? I drove a small truck when I was younger. When I saw a bird, or birds, or another animal, including humans in my path, I'd slow down and beep the horn very loud to scare the animal off the road. It took about a half a second or less and they always flew away.
I still do that when driving my car. Wildlife has a right to eat and live. They don't know they're in a friggin road!
If it was a group of children would you beep?
You have a horn and you can use it. Humans can be so cruel. When you enter the Bronx Zoo you have to stop before you enter and stand in front of a mirror. Over the mirror is a sign with these words over it. You are looking at the most dangerous animal on the planet. True. We are the only animal who kills our own species over religion, politics, jealously, greed, etc. And kill other species if they're in our way.
Intelligent species? Says who? Oh, that's right, we do. 🤔

Us girls have to stick together. Between wife, daughters, granddaughters... and the wonderful TRF ladies, I feel pretty outnumbered. But... wouldn't have it any other way!!!!
