These folks need to go to jail, well at least this first guy for sure. After viewing this makes me feel some folks do need to be wrestled up off the street if they keep repeating the behavior. I think there are some other I see your point here. These people are repeat offenders! nkat What gives them the right to steal ?

Well, I'm not condoling theft, but this baiting thing borders on enticing crime and racism, the way it is carried out..it seems wrong to set this up in minority communities.
How many TV shows to you see this setup in rich white communities....throw a few Rolexes on the sidewalk, roll the cameras and make jokes and laugh about the white people getting arrested??

No one has the right to steal, no matter what race you are. Growing up, I never had all these expensive tennis shoes or designer clothes. Wealthy people come in all races and so do the poor! Look when people riot and all the looting they do, not right. nkat

How many TV shows to you see this setup in rich white communities....throw a few Rolexes on the sidewalk, roll the cameras and make jokes and laugh about the white people getting arrested?? To be fair, there are quite a few other policing crime reality tv shows featuring people of all ethnicities and often mostly white people. However, I would like to know if this particular method is having any affect on reducing car theft in the areas where they are using this tactic or if this is just a way to arrest more minorities for the heck of it and for the entertainment factor. If it's working to reduce crime, I'm all for it, if not, than again, it's just a waste of tax payers money. Either way, I do feel something has to be done to reduce certain types of crime, car theft is a huge problem and that I can see them looking for ways to catch people who will get into a car they don't own and ride off with it, just like they bait child molesters via the internet. Some people deserve to have their arsed handed up to them. They don't deserve a pass if they are actively out there participating in criminal acts as car thieves generally are. Not just mad at them because I once had my car stolen either. .

You're not outnumbered, to a degree I agree with you on that first video, was just having a discussion in general. Not saying you are wrong in your view, not in the least. Minority neighborhoods are often targeted unfairly for a variety of reasons, no question about it. Just sometimes, when I see a duck, I will have to call it a duck.

Oh, btw great artcle, I strongly agree, the rich are rarely targeted for these types of crime shows, but, in my mind and I'm sure many others, I am very aware they are some of the worst criminals on much larger scales, but because they are often the ones pulling the strings it looks so much nicer from that angle. I could elaborate, but I'm dealing with this chest congestion and I'm just lacking the energy for deep thoughts really.

I have mixed feelings about that. I hate thievery, but this is directed at vulnerable Black kids who have little enough as it is.

rosa427 and Kady , you both make excellent points. I do agree "bait" anything is wrong and is considered entrapment and any savvy lawyer would certainly argue that point til blue in the face and would in most instances win the argument. But keep in mind that we are only human and, as such, are subject to basic behaviors such as greed. It doesn't matter what ethnicity or amount of wealth, or lack thereof, that one possesses, but the need to have what one doesn't have.

I'm more concerned about a lying, cheating, thief sitting in the Oval Office stealing our money and destroying democracy! How about we 'bait' him? Oh, that's right. He'd claim it was a witch hunt. Kind of insulting to Wiccans but I digress. I have no idea how much a pair of these sneakers cost but I'm sure it's not costing the tax payers anything near what we're paying to house and keep this thing and his family of things safe and secure.
I've seen a TV show a while back where a group of white children were left in a room with a bowl full of candy and told not to take any. Guess what? They all took some. When asked by the person who 'baited' them if any of them took some candy what do you think they said? Hint. It was NOT, "Of course we took some candy we're all truthful and honest white kids." Nope. That's not what they said.
Has anybody on here ever taken anything that didn't belong to them when they were a child?
BTW, this has nothing to do with this thread but when my spouse was a teenager she would make phone calls from a pay phone so she could have some privacy. One day all these coins poured out of the phone when she lifted the receiver. Back then there were phone booths where you could sit down, close the door, and a fan would even come on to cool you off in the Summer. She scooped up all those coins, got a money order, and sent it to the phone company!

The pay phones that I used where in a place of business so I probably would of given the coins to them! nkat
