I recall my father referring to Eisenhower as being a "do-nothing" president. My dad was a "Roosevelt democrat", which explains his perspective.
I would be content in paying Trump's Secret Service tab if he promised to do nothing but play golf.
The present day Democrats in Congress have their hands full, attempting to conduct damage control against the heinous actions or the Republicans.
I can't see how the Democrats could possibly do more, without bringing knives and guns to the conference table.

Hopefully they have learned a bit and will return some of the dirty tricks when they regain the majority. McConnel is a great teacher..

This country needs another revolution.... and I believe it may come in November.... when we toss out the do-nothing party and try to restore sanity to this great nation once again....
The Republicans are a lot of things, but do nothing is not one of them. They get stuff done. It'd bad stuff, but they get it done. The do-nothing Party is the Democratic Party. As for restoring sanity, what sanity would that be? This country went off the rails way before Trump came on the scene. Or do you think the Iraq War was an act of sanity? How about the sub-prime mess? no they do nothing.... nothing on health care.... nothing on immigration..... nothing on DACA.... nothing really but tax cut on rich.... yet they complain about Obama..... last time I checked.... Obama NOT President any more.....they do nothing and just complain about the Democrats..... ha!! maybe they be in unemployment line come January.....

That argument doesn't work for me. Well realistically, there is no motivation for anyone with the power to investigate and pursue a criminal case to take on what would become a very politicized venture. Tony Blair got b*tch slapped in the press over his collusion with Bush, but then the matter died off. I still say that Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld(the REAL Axis of Evil) orchestrated events that came together as 9-11, as a pretext for launching colonialistic forays into Afghanistan and ultimately Iraq, in order to do some "Nation Building" in order to have a more U.S. compatible puppet regime, in the oil-rich region of the World. But, nobody is going to ever try to unravel that ball of dung. Prosecutions and executions will only come after a successful revolution. However, as they say- "whoever has the most guns wins". So, whoever has control of the military...wins.

They implement all kinds of policies to make the rich richer and the rest of the country poorer. That tax cut was a great success for them. They are making their big donors even richer so that they can contribute more to their campaigns, while at the same time they are ballooning the deficit so that it can be used as justification for gutting what little is left of the safety net. As for the Democrats, all they do when they get in power is slow the bleeding a bit.

somehow,we,as a people, have gone off-track.it's going to be difficult to straighten out things. That, my friend is the under-statement of the millennium.
I strongly fear that we are never going to get our civility back -- there is so much hate coming out of the White House and the GOP in general that we run the risk of becoming so used to it that we accept it as normal and OK. Every time I hear Trump spewing hatred against Latinos I cannot help being reminded of Hitler's propaganda campaign against the Jews. If you pay attention, it is hard not to see parallels. Hitler blamed all the woes of 1930s Germany on the Jewish people, just as the Trump administration blames all crime, rape, gang activity, etc., on Latino immigrants and speaks of them as subhuman. Hitler's propaganda machine was very successful in creating hate and fear against those whom the Nazis did not consider to be part of the German national community. It's really scary seeing this unfold here.
It also scares me to watch Trump's campaign to discredit mainstream news media with his mantra of "fake news." This approach was also used in the 1930s and ultimately the Nazi party totally controlled the news media and who, what and how was broadcasted. Only "news" that was favorable to Hitler and his policies was permitted to be transmitted to the public.
There is a very clear parallel to Trump's continual railing against the press and his latest categorization of them as "enemies of the people."

All very much a concern, the parallels are quite obvious. Another disturbing remembrance of the Nazi era: that many average German citizens insisting that they
"didn't know" about the persecution of the Jews, and the whloesale murder.
They knew.

Yes, I believe they did; I lived over there (military dependent) for almost 10 years, and though they pretty much all denied they knew, they most certainly did.
The concentration camp at Dachau is right outside (I mean RIGHT outside) the town of the same name, but the people insisted they didn't know what was going on out there when the allies made the townspeople come out and dig graves for the piles of bodies left outside the crematories by the Nazis. The citizenry HAD to have noticed, i.e., seen and smelled, the acrid smoke coming out of the crematories night and day; they HAD to have seen the trains bearing the cattle car loads of prisoners to the camp and no one ever coming out. And they HAD to have been aware of the presence of the Nazi guards and executioners in and out of town. The whole thing was right on their doorsteps.
I think the ordinary Germans made the mistake of not seeing Hitler and the Nazis for what they were until they already had a death grip on the country, and by then it was largely too late.
I hope we do not make the same mistake.

I hope we do not make the same mistake. That would be my concern as well, for present day America.
