Nope, it's (excuse the expression) a load of crap- nothing but excuses to keep 'some' immigrants out. I don't see anyone wanting a 'wall' on the Canadian border.. or to keep Europeans out... and for that matter, wasn't it trump or one of his people actually ASKING for MORE European immigrants not long ago..

Yesterday neighbors came to my house to pray for me. I got misty, and said I couldn't help it because I was a bleeding heart liberal. One of them then said, "Well Trump is going to get four more years, you know." I said, "Yeah, the Anti-Christ can't be impeached."

And where is FLOTUS?
She always speaks about doing right by the children...where is she now? Why so quiet? Does she approve of taking children away from their parents, treating them like animals and caging them, only letting them out to play for 2 hours per day?
Yeah right...."Be BEST" I don't know for sure but I believe she was told she needs to get out there with a cause. Children would work. That always works. We are not hearing anything from her because she couldn't care less. She never wanted this job. She's as much of a FLOTUS as he's a POTUS. The only cause either one of them have is themselves. America has become the school yard bully. So this is what "great" feels like? Who knew?

There's illegal border crossings, then there's families fleeing violence at home, where there seems to be little dispute that gang violence is the law of the land. These people are fleeing for their lives by most accounts and surrendering at the border seeking asylum. If they were fleeing war in their countries, would we similarly turn them away? If so, we seem to violate the norms of civilized society. nkat , I hear your concerns regarding illegal immigration and frankly there are legitimate concerns about this problem, but I do think the current administration is approaching this in a very cruel manner (and the Obama administration wasn't much better) all because Congress can't get their heads out of their a&*es to do the right thing and pass meaningful immigration reform. There are no easy solutions, but the current situation strikes me as very similar in terms of its response to the over-the-top treatment of Japanese American citizens during WWII. It's cruel and unbefitting of a nation like ours. I agree. There is a huge difference between Illegal immigration and applying for asylum, which is legal. I would be very interested in knowing how many of the "2000 children" who have been separated from their parents forcibly are the children of asylum seekers, and how many are children of people caught trying to cross the border illegally. I haven't seen any such breakdown.
And someone mentioned the crazy idea of tents to house children in Texas -- that's both idiotic and downright cruel. Anybody who knows or cares how HOT in will soon be in south Texas should realize that putting children in tents out in that heat is dangerously near a death sentence.
I am not in favor of open borders, but I strongly believe that we as Americans have an obligations as fellow human beings to treat illegal immigrants and their children in a compassionate, humane fashion, and I am horrified at what the Trump administration is doing in this regard.
Actually I am horrified at almost everything this administration does and says.

I think what's so disturbing is he (and the complicit Republicans) are slowly eroding our freedoms, pitting one group against another, ruining our environment and isolating us from the rest of the Western democracies. The GOP so-called leadership is non-existent on any issues that run counter to Trump's view of the world. Cowards, every one. Rather than trying to unite our country, Trump and his followers are intent on furthering the divides, all in the name of politics. This will not end well. That is exactly what Trump is doing. I think what he wants to be is dictator, and too many people are just sitting quietly by and letting him do it.
Shades of the 30s in Germany . . . .

Trump and the children - his goal is simply to create chaos in order to distract from the Mueller investigations and he will do whatever it takes to accomplish that. If it means fawning over North Korea's despotic leader, he will do that. If it means endangering the safety of thousands of innocent children, he will do that. He will do whatever it takes to keep the conversation away from his larger problems.
I cringe when I think about what might be the next dramatic action he and his cohorts will devise to distract his base and further shame our country.

I heard that the tents were air conditioned! nkat From what I heard these are only children of people who crossed illegally and who came here without a parent. nkat Heard this from where?
Where are they suppose to cross legally now, when they have the bridge they cross, blocked, for those that seek amnesty? Is it alright to deport the parent, keeping the children in those "air conditioned" tents to never reunite again?
Where are the infants, toddlers and female girls all being held? We only see the male gender on display.
Are the people working in these camps vetted, to weed out pedophiles? (The WH doesn't vet their own people very well.)
What's the taxpayers price tag for implementing this lousy policy? Even if these children eventually get shipped off to foster care, there is a price tag on doing that too. IMO, Anyone that feels what the WH administration is doing with these children, is just as twisted as they are!

I would hope that the children would be sent back with the parents!
What happens to the kids who came here illegally without a parent?
There are many couples in the US that can not have children. Playing Devil's Advocate here, are they keeping these kids and adopting them out over the years?
