trumps trade war, raining on GOP tax-cut parade
The real boost to, CEO's happiness, the illusionary boost to the economy, and the
chance to run on the GOP's tax cuts are all going down the drain with trump's, very real

trumps trade war, raining on GOP tax-cut parade
The real boost to, CEO's happiness, the illusionary boost to the economy, and the
chance to run on the GOP's tax cuts are all going down the drain with trump's, very real
trade WAR. Put in simpler terms... The Dow closed down -2.34% yesterday. Probably just the beginning if Trump actually follows through with his threats... Apparently China is ready willing and able to call his bluff. Now perhaps losing 2.34% of your retirement income doesn't mean much to the mega rich.. but for the average small investor, that's quite a hit when you consider last years entire gain was only 6%... It's going to start getting real for Americans.. particularly since China is micro targeting Trump supporting States.

I think one of the real problems here is that Trump seems to have no sense of what he's doing, other than trying to appear tough to his base. He really thinks he's going to use this to improve our trade status with China, but seems to forget he's facing an adversary who is unlikely to back down and who could probably eat Trump's lunch intellectually. As QuickSilver said, China is going after Trump's base with their tariffs; they're not stupid. While nothing is enacted yet, this has already rattled the markets. But beyond the market pain, this really does have the potential to impact jobs here in the US and especially in the heartland. Trump would have been much better off attempting to negotiate first, while holding out the possibility of tariffs as a last resort. I suspect that with GOP senators now starting to complain, Trump will back down or at least start to modify his rhetoric. There's a reason that Tillerson called him a f*&%ing moron. You have to wonder what, if any advice Trump has been receiving on this issue. Who is whispering in his ear telling him that this is a winning strategy? And for the horrific Sarah Huckabee Sanders to come out and say there may be some "short term pain" just illustrates the ignorance of this administration.

This is also going to translate into higher prices for everything here. The average American will be hit hard.

QuickSilver, it will be interesting to see how the Fox News and Sinclair-owned propaganda stations spin the higher prices we'll all be paying down the road. So much for the benefits of that "tax cut", eh? So much winning, so much winning. Impeachment can't come soon enough.

Once again Trump has shot his mouth off and we now have his peons running around in the aftermath trying to clean up...Larry Kudlow, the new economic adviser (big eye roll), has stated "its only a proposal" as stated above look for more back downs.....same goes for 'the wall'.

Never going to happen. Think about it this way. Companies outsource to cheaper labor markets to make a higher profit and improve stock prices if they're public. Can you imagine the kind of price increases on US manufactured goods that would be necessary to maintain existing profit margins? It's more likely that folks will just stop buying things like higher priced cars, appliances, etc. Farmers in the mid-west may see reduced demand for their products overseas. You could ultimately see an uptick in unemployment here and a drop in spending from all of this, especially with the recent hits to stocks. People see their retirement accounts rapidly shrinking, that can lead to reduced consumer optimism and a pullback in spending. While the goal of creating more manufacturing jobs is noble, Trump would be better off approaching this from the standpoint of upgrading the skills of the workforce and investing in newer technology jobs. We've seen stories out there talking about the lack of qualified workers for today's manufacturing environment, which has become increasingly automated and driven by robotic technology. Trump's lashing out in this way appeals to a certain segment of his base for sure, but it's short-sighted and intellectually foolish. This is all about his wanting to appear tough to his base and has little to do with an actual plan for improving the economy in the long term.

He's the boss who spoils his favorites. He's a cult leader who has loyal and mindless followers. He's the dictator who demands adoration. He's a school yard bully picking on the young or weak. He's a deadly and destructive waste.

I'm sure the attempt will be made to blame Obama, but as time passes that option becomes less viable.

Those jobs are NEVER coming back... Unless "Muricans" are willing to work for $3 a day. That's the part that a lot of folks don't understand. It's not about big power plays, whose got bigger huevos and such, it's about E-C-O-N-O-M-I-C-S. American corporations went to the parts of the world where labor is dirt cheap, set up factories and trained the $0.10 /hr labor force how to make first world products. Ever wonder why your customer service phone reps all seem to have Indian(from India) accents? The corporate business model is to maximize profits, and part of that maximizing profit scheme involves minimizing wages.
