I wish this was a joke. But, it's not. Someone once said religion can be an infectious disease that attacks one brain after the other. Or, something like that. It's these kind of stories that makes me think there might be some element of truth in that. www.newsweek.com/ar-15-church-blessing-pennsylvania-815013Wonder what kind of prayers the children in this church say at bedtime. God bless Mom and Dad and Nana and Pop-Pop and the AR-15. Amen. Imagine no religion. It's easy if you try.

So, how soon will we see lawsuits saying 3rd graders should be allowed to carry AR-15's in school for reasons of religious liberty? Sheesh!

From the article Birdgal posted:
"Tim Elder, the Unification Sanctuary's director of world missions, said Tuesday that the church believes that the gun symbolizes the 'rod of iron' that is mentioned in the Bible's apocalyptic Book of Revelation.
The church website advises parishioners: "If unable to purchase and legally transport such a 'rod of iron' because of laws barring the purchase of weapons, or other reasons, couple are invited to purchase a $700 gift card from a gun store, as such evidence of their intent to purchase a 'rod of iron' in the future."
(Comment: Yes, this is unbelievable. Rod of iron, my a$$.)

(Comment: Yes, this is unbelievable. Rod of iron, my a$$.) It appears Matthew and Luke were both wrong. Apparently you CAN serve God and Money. RubyK, I love your colorful little peeps.

I wish I could say this is unbelievable, but the fates protect us, it's all too believable - and downright scary!

From the article: "The World Peace and Unification Sanctuary"...does anyone remember the Right-Wing South Korean cult called The Moonies?
Right-winger forms a "church"(cult) for broader appeal and to [try to] legitimize the movement...hardly a good example of religion.
On the contrary, such movements lend religion a bad name, weakening the hold that legitimate religions have, and injecting the venom of the cult of hate and greed.
So, disregard the "church" reference in the headline, insert instead the term- "band of nutjobs" and you'll have a clearer picture of the actual story.

I'd be hard pressed to find any group of followers of any church or religion that I wouldn't classify as a "band of nutjobs".

I'll ignore that gratuitous insult, Toby, and simply observe that churches don't have a monopoly over nutjobs.

At one time a Sanctuary referred to an insane asylum.. My best guess, The World Peace and Unification Sanctuary is one on the same but has an open door policy.
