I have a grandson who is an ardent trump supporter - according to his wife, if if finds out you are not a trump supporter, he will make it his mission in life to change your mind. She claims to hate trump, but says she's "not too political"
He's also a gun nut - which is where I suspect he may have picked up his adoration of trump. I spoke up one time (not knowing of his gun zeal at the time), and said I wasn't against hand guns, but didn't think there was any good reason why any civilian needed a rapid fire rifle ala AR15's etc. He fired back a P.O.'ed response and hasn't spoken to me since. I keep in touch with his wife though on a semi regular basis.
I don't know what my son's political leanings are (his father) Will have to ask one of these days. My grandson and his wife are due to come up here this coming summer with the new baby (due the end of Nov.) Hopefully we can avoid the subject of politics and guns. LOL Should be interesting.

A lot of people have concern over this source of conflict with friends and family these days...our society has been sabotaged and minds poisoned by the likes of FOX and other fascist media.
Divide and conquer...that is how it's done.

I too have close family members that are Trump supporters....They know my political views..
we all just tip toe around it at family gatherings, I don't push my views on them and I expect the same from them....I hope some day they will realize they've been bamboozled.

It is sad, goes way beyond simple politics, touches on religion and the very definition of how life is supposed to be. |

I don't like publish bashing of people for their professed faith although privately I do agree with the sentiment expressed in the above meme.
It is a slippery slope for any of us to point the finger at someone we believe is a 'bad Christian' (or bad Hindu, Moslem or Jew etc). IMO it is enough to shine a light on their behaviour, which in this case is blatant lying in support of a leader who lies every day.

Oh, I don't know. Look at the mess we're in right now because it wasn't "nice" to say anything against Ultra Far Right Christians. Lest we forget the jerk in WH told people his favorite book is the Bible. If you believe that please raise your hand.
As long as they choose to insert their so called Christian beliefs into MY government, I'm going to insert my political beliefs into their religion. Anybody honestly believe the GOP sucked up to these people because the GOP is so righteous, fair, and loving? The GOP saw easy prey. No pun intended. A people that would pride themselves in believing they are doing Gods will, when in reality all they're doing the will of the GOP not GOD. These people are an assault on our freedoms. They want a Theocracy not a Democracy. I don't have a problem with them if they stay in their church and preach their hate. I have a problem if they stand in the Halls of Congress and preach their hate, and I will let them know!
If they keep their religion out of my government I'll keep my comments to myself. If they're going to stand up and claim to be a Christian and then turn around and refuse to feed the hungry, cloth the poor, turn their back on immigrants, tell people who they can marry or love, support liars and cheaters, spread fear and hate instead of Loving one another, you bet I'll judge them by their fruits. Let them put their money where their mouths are or shut up.
Just look at them. Maybe it's me but I don't see any Light or Joy. I see hate, lies, and anger. This ain't your Grandma's Christianity. Hypocrites. IMHO, of course.

I don't disagree but I prefer to highlight the behaviour rather than the professed faith.
It is but a short step from declaring that far right Christians are hypocrites to assuming that all Christians are far right hypocrites. We see the same thing when all Muslims are assumed to be terrorists or terrorist sympathisers simply because of their professed faith.

My complaint is with the two woman at the top of this post! I never once suggested that ALL Christians, are hypocrites! This isn't about you and I'm sorry you took it so personal. I respect you, your beliefs, your opinions your wisdom, and the things you add to this forum. I don't have an ounce of respect for either of them. I feel their hate and their anger and, for me, they could very well destroy my life and my love. I stand by my words about them and others like them. However, those words are NOT directed at you or others like you and again, I'm sorry you took it so personal. I am well aware of painting all people with the same brush. I am NOT a child molester, I do NOT hate all men, I do NOT worship the Devil, I am NOT insane, nor do I need some kind of shock therapy to "fix" me and change who I am! I'm 73 years old and have been dealing with and fearing this misguided hate all my life! I'm too old to sit and take it anymore from them or anyone. When I was younger I was threatened with shock therapy. I've had Far Right Christians perform an exorcism on me and it was an awful experience that I will never, ever forget. They had me on the floor, pinned down like a terrified animal, calling out devils! I was in my 20's. I had enough. I through them all off, stood up, and told them there was no devil there was only me! The VP of the United States believes all those things about me and he doesn't even know me! These woman share his belief system. Therefore, I fear and despise them and the thing they serve. |
