We've been under heat/humidity warnings for several days now, and it's not supposed to improve for another several days. Stifling! At mid afternoon here, it is 27C/81F (with humidex factored in, it's feeling like 37C/99F) Humidity is a very high 74%, with just a light southwesterly breeze which gives very little relief. It's sunny, with some clouds here and there. www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/alerts/high-alert/nova-scotia/halifax

We've had some pleasant weather, but need rain. Finally getting some today. Right at 1" so far, with some more anticipated overnight. Then, dry for the next week. At least we seem to have gotten through our triple digit heat days.

Broke the high temp record for today. Old record dated back to 1954. 100 degrees F. Old record was 96. Supposed to hit 100 again tomorrow. Then, a cool down.
Ready for Fall!!!!
Last Saturday night, the tornado sirens blew. Winds coming our way in excess of 70 mph. Most blew itself out just south of us. We had some really noisy, strong gusts but no damage at our home. Quite a few branches down at the golf course. I helped clean up on Sunday.

Cool here, too. Stayed in the low 70's yesterday. Today, rain and supposed to stay in the upper 60's to low 70's. Back in the 80's tomorrow. Then, beginning Sunday, highs in the 60's with some lows in the 40's all through next week.
I put the doors back on my golf cart, yesterday. Will get the heater ready to fire up. Back window will go back in tomorrow morning. Life is tough, playing the golf thing. But, someone has to do it!!!

formerlyme Wondering how you are making out with the hurricane hitting Nova Scotia. Hope you are safe! Thanks for asking, Drifter! Fiona hit Nova Scotia with fury Friday evening, continued all through the night and most of Saturday before moving further east Saturday evening. Like myself, the majority of Nova Scotians lost electic power, internet service, and land line phone service, many having cell phones were also without service. My services started coming back on line a little past noon Sunday (today). Hundreds of thousands still are waiting, and it could take several days for those in some rural areas. Friday night was wild, with howling winds, rain, and lots of damage. I have a portable battery-operated radio, and stayed awake most of the night listening to CBC radio who manned the lines keeping us updated as best possible, and taking phone calls from citizens and other officials. That was a comforting distraction from what was going on in the absolute darkness outside my windows. The storm made landfall in the most easterly part of this Province on Cape Breton Island Saturday where the damage was extreme. P.E.I., Newfoundland & Labrador, and parts of Southern New Brunswick were hugely affected also. In some parts, houses were washed into the sea, and much coastline was lost. Damage in some cases was catastrophic, probably the most dangerous and damaging storm we've had in my lifetime, even worse than Hurricane Juan in September 2003. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/nova-scotia-clean-up-fiona-1.6595080

Wow....such devastation. It's going to take time to get things cleaned up. Good to hear your power was restored.

Cold snap, here. Yesterday temps stayed in the 50's with cold north wind. Glad to have doors and a cover on my golf cart!!! They had a frost warning for this morning, saying temps could drop into the low 30's. Wife brought plants in from the deck. Ended up only getting down to 41 so, false alarm!!
Hope for some rain early next week!!! Really dry. Visited with a lady, this past week, who has a plot in the community garden. She said she tries to water her plants, but the water just sits on top of the ground it's so dry and hard. Had to do some hand tilling before watering.

Well, we had a few record heat days this past summer. Triple digits on days that had never seen such high temps. This morning and tomorrow morning, we are setting record cold temps. 25 degrees F this morning and 19 degrees F tomorrow. Of course, this is Kansas. 80's by the weekend!!! Try to convince me Mother Nature isn't off her meds.....
