Very comfortable temps. Highs in mid to upper 70's. Periods of light showers almost every day... and to continue through Wednesday. Assuming this is our very short Spring.

At least two tornados about 40 miles to our north last evening. Quite a bit of damage to two small communities. Storm hit here about 7:00 p.m. 80+ mph winds. Still haven't heard it there was a tornado or not. Lots of power lines down. Trees down all over town. Lost power shortly after 7:00. Power came back on for us at 12:30 a.m. Daughter's power went out the same time ours did. Their power was restored about 3 a.m.
Sirens blowing so the wife, dog, and I did spend about 45 minutes in the basement. No damage to our home or property. Just lots of small tree debris. 50 yards south of our front yard, a street light pole was sheared off and blocked the street. A fair sized tree limb joined it... just to make sure no one could get through. Bunch of cars came down the street and had to turn around.
Fun June evening in Kansas. Nothing out of the ordinary. :>)

Just checked. 101 degrees F ambient with 112 degrees heat index. I mowed everything early this morning. Done by 10:00 a.m. Was already getting unbearable. After a nice cold shower, could not get the gumption to join the guys for golf. Pretty well veg'd out today.

Stuck in this stretch of exceptionally hot weather. Day after day with triple digit heat indexes. Ambient temps in upper 90's to low 100's. High humidity.
We've been teeing off at 7:00 or a little before. Done by 9:30ish. Able to play and stay out of the heat.
No golf, today, due to a tournament at the course. So... fired up the mower at 6:30 a.m. Got mowed and trimmed by 8:30. That's the ONLY way I can do it, is very early a.m.
A stretch of triple digits is not uncommon in late July/early August. In June??? Don't remember ever seeing it this hot this early. Afraid of what the remainder of the Summer holds for us.

Rather chilly this morning, compared to what its been. 53ºF, but with the wind chill factored in, it feels like 45º. Only suppose to see the low 60's by late this afternoon. Will be a perfect day to finish yard work.

Triple digit ambient temps Monday and Tuesday. Mid to upper 90's the next 10 days. It's 5:15 a.m. and already 82. "Only" getting to 95 this afternoon. But, with the humidity, heat index in low 100's.
This is typical late July/early August type weather. We're burning up!!!!

The storm that went through town the 11th was classified as an F2 tornado. Lots of tree damage in the center to east parts of town. No injuries. 20 homes severely damaged. City free limb and tree debris pickup began yesterday.
Last night, we had winds to 75 mph come through with a severe thunderstorm. Many places in town saw 3" to 4" of rain in under an hour. Streets flooded. More tree damage.
The 11th, our golf course was west of the storm path and we experienced only some limb and branch issues. Last night, we lost about 6 large trees and it will take crews a week or so to get everything cut up and picked up. Still able to play, though.
More severe storms predicted for tomorrow night. What a strange year........

Storm went through last nite, cooled it down to the low to mid 80’s today. Over the weekend 90’s return. Yuck!
