I have a free video editing program called HitFilm Express. It's an amazing program one would think costs well over $100 and it far exceeds the older Roxio software I had that did cost over $100. The learning curve is rather steep (at least it was for an old man like me), but once I began to find my way around, I realized there is so much you can do with it. It's way more than just a cut and paste editing program although that's about all I've used it for so far.
I found a handful of sites that offer free photos and/or free videos (royalty free) that can be used pretty much any way you want to use them.
There are other sites out there as well but these seemed to have a much bigger selection.
Hope this helps.
And yes, I wrote and played the music courtesy of my Sonar 8 software and a couple of VST instrument plugins (drums and orchestra). I can't play keyboards so I entered the music one note at a time. Some things can be entered to cover a phrase, then copied and pasted to other like phrases but often (especially with bass and drum parts), they have to be changed to keep them from sounding boring and repetitious. That becomes very time consuming but I love the fact that I can create works like this without the expense of hiring musicians. There's no way I could do this otherwise. I live on my SS check.
