Jeez Louise...Just ordered an exhaust system for my Tahoe from the converter back. Will take 5-7 days to come in. Only $1260.75! Should be a piece of cake to install, since it's all one piece.

Less expensive when we could purchase each component. If muffler went bad, replace only the muffler. Now, they glue as much together as they can so you purchase the entire unit...at a much higher cost than a single part. Spent ~$800.00 on my truck this year. Grumpy that I had to spend money on a vehicle, other than tires or oil changes. But, with 100,000 miles and the first I've spent on it guess I shouldn't get too upset. It's a 2015. Had 15,000 on when bought it in 2016. Never buy new. For years have looked for cars/trucks that have 10,000 to 15,000 so someone else takes the depreciation hit. I put most of the miles on it while still working. Now, it sees about 8 - 10 miles/day to and from the golf course. Wife's car is a 2014. She just turned over 30,000 miles. It's been to Wyoming, a couple trips to Minnesota, Charleston, SC, Louisiana, and more long distance trips. She was 4 blocks from her work before retiring so didn't see much use.

Now, they glue as much together as they can so you purchase the entire unit...at a much higher cost than a single part. Sure, single components would have been a third of the cost for my application with only a 2 year warranty, but no one had it in stock and they didn't know when they would. Even checked all places on-line: Out of stock. So, I went with what was underneath...one piece. Only have to change the one clamp at the converter and hook it all into the hangers. It's been a good vehicle over the years. Only 2 sets of tires, changed brakes, rotors and spark plugs only one time, and will be the first exhaust replacement in 15 years. I make sure to change the oil & filter regularly and top off fluids. The only thing wrong with this vehicle is that there are a few bear bites in the rear bumper.

"Bear bites in the bumper"??? That must be an interesting story.... Don't know how many times we've chased that 400# bear away from the vehicle. He use to get underneath the carport, between the wall and bumper and lay there, trying to hide from the other big bears. He'd get frustrated, being cornered, he'd hum and hum, then lift his head and bite the bumper. We finally just had to back the vehicle up against the wall so he couldn't get behind it. Then, he laid in front of it. Was easier to chase him off from that position. Lots of interactions with all the bears where we live. One laid in our yard watching me paint the side of the house. I finally came down the ladder and chased him back across the creek, up the hill to get him out of the sun. Sat on the back deck one evening before dark with my husband, enjoying a Klondike bar, when a young male bear reached up gently and pawed my husbands leg begging for one. I've got pictures on another PC where one is floating in the swimming hole we made for our dogs. Had a bear stand on his hind legs to look in our bedroom window to see our pet raccoon looking back at him. Just normal everyday events when living in black bear country.

Drifter, it's great that folks can be so different in their likes/dislikes. I don't envy you living out in the "sticks", but know you wouldn't want to live in a city. Our daughter and SIL recently moved to Missouri. Bought a small house on 9 1/2 acres of 40 ft tall oak trees. Deer by the dozen. Bobcat. Armadillos...which can carry disease and he does away with them. They love the backwoods. He has cut trails where they can ride their side-by-sides. They are also close to some rec areas where they can ride. Just north of Lake of the Ozarks, they spend time fishing. She's the money winner so he is building a shop, etc. and has done quite a bit of work on the home. They sold 10 acres a couple hours east of us where they had lived the past 12 years. Got enough out of that to pay cash for where they are so have no debt. We love being close to grocery, medical facilities, etc. Don't mind traffic. Neighbors are awesome. Both of us were raised on farms and couldn't wait to move to town when each graduated HS. Different strokes for different folks.

How true 2old. We lived in a city, Cleveland, Ohio. Hubby drove an 18 wheeler for a living there. I rode with him quite a bit. Wow, the memories and stories doing that! We decided to move here in '74. The first year, I hated it! It was so different from city living. No matter where you wanted to go, you needed to pack a lunch to get there. There just wasn't anything to do. But, I adjusted and found my niche. Now, you couldn't pay me to be a city girl again. I learned to be a country girl. Did square foot gardening, learned to can and freeze my produce. Made jams and jellies from the wild berries I picked. Raised pigs and chickens. I learned to hunt and take care of my game. Fishing out back of our house came natural. I enjoyed rehabbing wildlife when my husband became a game warden. We continued to add property as it became available around us. Now, we own approximately 100 acres, free and clear, with standing timber on it. When we groom the yard and people come behind the pines, they tell us it looks like a beautiful park, so serene and tranquil. Yes, we too, have all types of wildlife frequenting our property. I'll stop what I'm doing and take the view in. Our southern property line borders a state game lands so it's natural for all the wildlife to come down. Our land is like a sanctuary for them, since we do not let anyone hunt it. My lifestyle may not be someone else's cup of tea, but that's okay with me. I'm glad your daughter is happy with her move and enjoying everything her husband is doing to it!

Got another Covid shot yesterday afternoon (Pfizer XBB Monovalent) and had a mighty miserable evening and night. I spent most of today in bed, and am feeling pretty much normal this evening. Recovered more quickly this time than in most previous instances.
This go-round, it's only being offered in Canada to we older folks, the one exception being for younger folks with compromised immune systems.

Spent the day outdoors doing yard work, mainly mowing grass. Dang it was long from all the rainy days. Rain coming tonight into tomorrow again.

Rain supposed to begin here late this afternoon. Rain for 40 days and 40 nights! At least this one local station that is always the purveyor of doom says. We really need the rain. Most are calling for it to be fairly easy rain through Saturday.

When you say he does away with them you mean he kills them, right? They "can" carry diseases so can humans.
I think that's cruel. You moved into the place they were living and killed them. Just in case they are carrying a disease.
Very cruel and mean. You might be carrying a disease that could harm them or other humans. Very cruel.

I believe she was referring to my comment about the armadillos my daughter/SIL have in their area. Armadillos have moved north to our/their area within the past few years. They are know to carry leprosy and other disease. With their dogs and pets, they don't want the armadillos coming into their back yard. So, if they catch on trying to burrow under their fence, it is "dispatched". I probably should not have mentioned that.
