We have decided to go ahead and self isolate.. at least until we see where this pandemic is going.. Another word for it is "community separation". We will not be venturing into any large crowds or crowded stores.. and going out only for medical appointments and to pick up necessities. No Movies... no restaurants... no unnecessary shopping.. no social gatherings. It might be overkill and unnecessary, but this is what we feel we need to do right now.. at least until we see what is going to happen with this.. It sure looks like it's spreading everywhere.

Your husband has had serious health issues - and I think you had something as well? - so it makes sense to do so.
We are both healthy and we live in a low population area. But we are not isolating ourselves. Husband has a trip to Uganda next week and is not cancelling. I have an appointment in Glasgow the same day he goes and not cancelling. We have a 4 day trip to London in April and are hoping the always sold out concert won't be cancelled. Then a short anniversary trip 2 weeks later in Edinburgh.
We will keep our hands clean, not touch our faces.

Well I kind of live an isolated life anyway, so this won't be a hardship to me....I plan on avoiding crowds too....Monday I have to take my SIL to the doctor in the city, I plan on waiting in the car as opposed to the waiting room.

Funny how kids aren't getting it and if they do it's not serious.

Perhaps the Covid-19 virus or some variation of it has been in Africa and there is a natural immunity. Kids get it, but they are not getting very sick from it. Scientists aren't really sure why.. Perhaps because kids are getting some of the other strains of Coroanvirus all the time.. kids are sick all the time.. Also, some have speculated that kids don't get as sick because there immune systems are not as developed as adults, so they don't muster the same intense immune responses as adults.. just like how when adults get chickenpox or measles they get much sicker and have more complications than kids. The Elderly have weakened immune systems and are unable to produce antibodies needed to fight the virus.. plus they have comorbid conditions like heart and kidney disease or diabetes.. They also have a higher prevalence of COPD and emphysema and this virus attacks the lungs.

They are rarely indoors with lots of people - buildings are open. Saw them with malaria frequently.

Out for lunch and dinner. Feel safer going to a restaurant than to a dr’s appointment.

In one of the very small villages here the doctor has closed his office. The majority of his patients are elderly. He posted a notice that you can pick up prescriptions at the office window, but to let it sit in the boot (trunk) of your car for several hours before retrieving it.

The scary part is that this is a new virus and not much is known about it.. Viruses can live on inanimate objects from only a few hours to nine days. There is no data about where in this range Covid-19 falls.

But Servers and workers in a restaurant are likely not covered by health insurance nor do they get paid sick leave.. They will come to work sick out of necessity... I'm avoiding restaurants.

Depends upon where that restaurant is ; we eat locally in a small township.

Just saw a long line of stragglers in the tailend of the LA Marathon, they run past my apt bldg on my street. It was not cancelled and no masks. Just a lot of sore and limping people and I can only imagine how they will feel tomorrow on.

We live in a rural area, people are all talking about the virus for sure, but the supermarket in town still has toilet paper in-stock and priced normally. We have more people tending horses and goats than are traveling internationally.
