Well then if you are out doing all that work then that could be a different story. Not my life.

Well then if you are out doing all that work then that could be a different story. Not my life. It's my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I don't consider it work...more like therapy. It's a great way to clear ones head and to get a positive outlook on life. I love, love, love being out in nature and puttering around, especially being distracted by all our wildlife.

Yes, it's true we all have our lives and I enjoy my So. Cal life a mile from the ocean which I don't go on anymore, due to having to use a walker from the surgery mess. Plus I can't tolerate the sun at 81 as I did in my earlier life. I get the impression you are a lot younger than me, but don't know that either. Plus the cancer possibility.

I used to be the same, Drifter, hubby and I were outside all the time we were home with different projects, it was not only invigorating to be outside, it was rewarding to get things done.....Enjoy the time while you can.
My outside time now is limited to a walk in the yard or riding my trusty lawn mower.

Ah, being born and raised in the East and knowing what big yards and acerage is and living in the city I live in with minimal yard areas and I never put it together as I had no comparison, but 50 yrs in CA I get it all now. All that wasted space, grass and weeds my mom had to mow and hire people to do it, geezzzz and YES it's all what one is accustomed too.

I lived in a city for numerous years and was so happy to get out of that rat race.
Have been living in the tranquil country for several decades where the land we purchased is used more or less for an animal sanctuary. I enjoy the summer months, taking the mower for a walk, whacking weeds, trimming trees & bushes, gardening, planting things that the wildlife enjoy consuming, etc.
I also enjoy the winter months playing in the snow with a shovel or a snow blower or having a snowball fight with my husband. I even love the rain and will walk in it all the time. I love hiking behind my home. I love fishing in the stream behind my home. I just love the lifestyle I mapped out for myself.
If I ever loose my mobility and have to be dependent on someone else, I know I will be one miserable SOB. But, I know I'll move forward and not dwell on the past. The past is history and it cannot be changed.

Drifter: To each his own...we've had opposite lives it appears. I almost considered moving back East when my father passed in 2005, it was quiet etc and one could sit and watch the "grass grow"...but then I shook myself up and realized how much I'd miss the sunshine and all the activities of my 50 yrs in CA. Granted since botched hip replacement in 2010, my activities are so so limited now. But it's OK, I have a lot of fond memories...it's not OK really, but it's what has happened in my life. Oh, I'm glad you love the snow and rain, I don't miss it for a moment and over my yrs here have driven to the snow..and do enjoy when we get the much needed rain. In spite of less rain, everything grows like crazy, reaching for the sun...I have flowers growing outside my door all year. j

Drifter: Just re-reading your life and hiking behind house, stream etc..and I have a slew of cousins who had that kind of house when we were young kids, they lived in Murrysville, PA and going to their house was like going to a vacation. So I've lived both and left PA in my later 20's and been gone a long time and do enjoy our weather and lifestyle here. Spent many many days on the Sands and even when I lived in the East, could not wait to go to NJ beaches and FL beaches.
Thinking how we got to this and it's from the Vit D aspect. And I hurt so much more when it's chilly, OA issues. Gotta keep joints as warm as I can.

Peaceful, pretty, a sea loch in front and a forest in the back. We do have neighbours as it's a coastal road but the houses aren't too close and it's very quiet. Yet, I'm only 1.5 hours from a big city and the main airport. I've lived in cities, big towns, small towns, and this is by far the best. I enjoy driving and we don't get busy city traffic here as the closest town which is 10 miles has a population of about 11,000. However, being over 60 means the bus is free all over Scotland. If for some reason I/we can't drive, we can take the bus into town to shop, or anywhere. As for multivitamins, there is no proof these even work. But I do take a Calcium/D (1/2 the recommended dose) since I went through menopause when I was 40. Nothing else.

Thank you formerlyme and highlandannie! It is very peaceful where I live. People that visit say it's beautiful, like visiting a park and they feel great leaving the city behind and able to just relax. If someone is taking separate supplements like Vitamin C, D, K, B6, etc., why take a multivitamin on top of them? That's what a multivitamin is...a combination of vitamins. It's overkill consuming extra supplements IMO.

I eat an apple each day, but don't eat any citrus, etc. So, for the past 10 years, I down 1000mg of C each morning. My doc and I have visited about that. He laughs and says the same thing you do. Yet, he says it won't hurt me. I just don't have colds. Maybe one every year or two. I have my annual physical tomorrow. My blood work from last week came back stellar! I plan to visit some more with the doc and maybe drop the C and at least one of my fish oil capsules.

Well, I was going with that theory too, but in some qood quality multi's they contain sometimes 20-30 trace elements like zinc and a lot of foods that many of us don't consume...it's all choice and I'm going back to Rainbow Light for a while. I know zinc is a healing mineral and I don't take any as a rule and not much foods that contain zinc and those that do it's all minimal, I don't eat plate fulls of foods.... I don't believe a good multi is overkill and especially with aging and even younger people are taking them....one a day has been around forever, and even some who do a lot of supplements in their lives take a multi every other day...can't hurt and I'd rather spend my money on being healthier than more technology... And as far as playing in snow and walking in rain, certainly not my idylic life and especially with old age, can't wait to get into the warmth and get these creeky joints warmed up. I remember when my child was little we played in the snow with her in her snowsuit, that brought back memories in good ole PA snow. And then there were times of driving in the stuff and spinning around on the ice, oh brother..... I don't miss that life for a minute. We came to CA when my daughter was 2 so she has no recollection of living in snow and since we live in a beach town, the beach was her and my growing up, and grandkids were born in CA so same with them...it's all where we were hatched....

So some of those days are in the SUN...so you are getting more than a lot of people do. A friend's husband was a year round golfer from PA and he went out when there was light snow on the ground.....he smoked and was basically pretty healthy but did die at about 83 or so.

It may not hurt you but whatever your body isn't absorbing, you just pee it away in the sewer system. To me, that's like flushing good money down the toilet. Sounds like you'll breeze through your physical tomorrow since all your lab work was stellar!
